Throwback Thursday: Pearl Harbor
Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day is this Sunday, December 7th. I thought I’d do a throwback Thursday post this week and share a few pictures from when I went to the Pearl Harbor Memorial this past August. This photo is from the boat ride from the shore to the USS Arizona Memorial. They let only a certain amount of people onto the Memorial at a time and you have a certain amount of time before you have to get back onto the boat. It’s basically 1 group (boat full) at a time. It’s a pretty surreal experience to be there and see everything. This memorial is built where the…

Throwback Thursday: Diamond Head
Last month when I was in Hawaii, I went to Diamond Head Crater. Diamond Head is visible from much of Waikiki Beach and is an iconic site. It’s a state park and there is a trail that you can walk/hike up one of the sides of the crater. In case you don’t know, Diamond Head is a crater formed from a volcanic eruption 300,000 years ago. The trail is mostly paved because there are so many visitors. When I say paved, I mean packed dirt to form a trail. The trail was only 0.7 miles so it was by no means a long hike, but parts of it were steep because…

Sunset & Stargazing on Mauna Kea
One of the best things I did while in Hawaii was go up Mauna Kea on the Big Island to see the sunset and stargaze. My family and I went with Mauna Kea Summit Adventures which is the oldest company to offer tours up to the summit to see the sunset. I’m not talking about any old sunset. This is a view of the sunset from above the clouds! We were a little under 14,000 ft. up and it was nothing short of amazing. Hoodie: Victoria’s Secret Jeans: Gap Our guide picked us up in a company van from our hotel. There were 14 people in our van not including our guide.…

Hawaii Zip Lining Experience
While in Hawaii I went zip lining and had a really fun time! I’ve been ziplining twice before. One of the times was during a whole day excursion in Mexico with friends so the zip line portion was just a few short lines in the middle of a lot of other activities and sightseeing. The other time I went zip lining was when I was visiting a friend in Guatemala and we started on a mountainside and zipped on multiple lines back down. This past trip to Hawaii I went to a ziplining place called Umauma Experience in Hakalau. They offer a few different types of zipline and outdoor activities. The one…

Hawaii: Beach & Pool Looks
I’m nearing the end of my vacation in Hawaii and my beach and pool looks are starting to repeat, but I thought I’d show you some looks from the last few days. Top: Mossimo via Target Shorts: Tribal Print Wrap-Front Short from Forever 21 Love these shorts – they’re so cute! And the wrap detail makes them so different than regular shorts. It’s important to note that this is not a stretchy material at all. It is a bit stiff and is not forgiving so it would be a good idea to size up. I wore this outfit over this bathing suit… Swimsuit: Candie’s Vintage Bouquet Floral via Kohls The…

China Pattern Romper OOTD
The other night, after a long but fun day of zip lining (post all about that coming soon! I know, I have so much left to cover on this trip!), walking to see waterfalls, and driving, we went to dinner at the Beach Tree Bar & Grill at The Four Seasons about 15 minutes down the road. I was exhausted from the day, but was extremely comfortable in this romper. Stylish + Comfort is always a good combination! When I first bought this romper I showed it to my mom and she said she wasn’t crazy about it because it looked like a china pattern. But, that’s actually what drew…

Hawaii: Random Stops
This is my 3rd time to Hawaii, but it never ceases to amaze me how beautiful it is here at every turn. You’re surrounded by beautiful sites whether it’s the mountains, ocean, waterfalls or even volcanoes. Even when you’re not expecting to see something you find yourself surprised. In my last post I showed my outfit of the day when I went to Kailua-Kona. On that same day, we decided to drive a little further south along the coast just to explore. After a few miles we started to see signs for Kealakekua Bay and decided to follow them. It was a few miles of very twisty, curvy roads down…

Kailua-Kona OOTD
Yesterday, we drove down to Kailua-Kona, a beach-side town about 40 minutes away from where we’re staying. As soon as we arrived in town, I could see the crowds of people on the sides of the street along the water watching, photographing, and videotaping all the surfers trying to catch the waves. I don’t know how to surf and I’m no expert on the tides so I don’t know if the waves were good at that time yesterday because of the tide or if the waves were better since the tropical storm/hurricane had just passed. Whatever the reason, it was fun (and windy) to relax for a little while and…

Aloha
Hello from Hawaii! I’m in Hawaii on vacation, so for the next few posts you’ll be seeing some ootd, travel, and food related posts from my trip. This is my 3rd time here, but only my 2nd time on the big island. The first time I came was right after I graduated high school, 10 years ago (I know I’m dating myself here). I like to travel in comfortable clothes especially on a plane when you’re in such a restricted space for a long period of time. The flight to Honolulu is 10 hours from where I live. V-neck Tee: Aerie Tank Top: Old Navy Yoga Pants: Express Zip-up hoodie: Aerie…
