Pattern Mix Master

I am really not that great at mixing patterns. It just never occurs to me to do so. I’ll see girls with mixed pattern pieces and think that it looks great but it probably wouldn’t have occurred to me to try that out myself. I’m one of those girls that doesn’t even mix bikini tops and bottoms. On other people it looks awesome, but when I’m getting dressed I would think to myself, for example, “Why would I put that pink bikini bottom with this floral bikini top? Obviously I’ll just wear the matching tops and bottoms”.
So when Polyvore had a pattern mixing challenge, I decided to give it a shot. I kept it more basic with a floral pleated maxi skirt and a striped top. Nothing too crazy. I feel like I kept it on the safer side with my choice of patterns, but it’s a good start!
For accessories, I chose to work off the blue from the skirt with this Chloe leather saddle crossbody bag and Henri Bendel flip flops. Lastly, I love these Dior “Sideral” sunglasses with the mirrored lenses, retro silhouette, and polished wire accents.
How do you feel about pattern mixing?
