“New year, new me” is something a lot of people say every new year. It’s a time to wipe the slate clean and start fresh. You can technically make the decision to start fresh any time, but the first of the year always seems like a good time.
For about half of 2018, I was mindful of myself. Trying to work towards being the best version of myself, being more mindful of putting positive energy out in hopes of positive energy coming back to me. All that jazz. I’m still trying to do those things, but it is hard! Sometimes, you just feel like life is trying to keep you down, ya know? So when I was asked if I wanted to read Jacqueline Pirtle’s book 365 Days of Happiness, and I saw that the premise was a step-by-step guide to being happy I knew I absolutely wanted to have a copy for the new year. The book was sent to me and I saw that each page is for a day of the year so I decided to start reading it January 1. Obviously, it’s only been 3 days, but I intend to read this each day for the whole year.
I’ve never been one to read lots of self-help type books but I’m not against them either and since I’m trying to make a happier and more fulfilling life for myself I am willing to do whatever it takes. The book seems to be full of things to help inspire and uplift which I’m excited about. I’m sure some things will be a bit cheesy for me, but maybe I need more cheesiness in my life. Day 1 was already off to a good start reminding me that happiness is within my grasp, I just have to welcome it and have a relationship with it.
“The last conversation of the day is before you fall asleep, ‘My beautiful Happiness, I love you and I am the most blessed being in the world to have you by my side. Life is amazing with you.'”
I’m looking forward to having this as a guide for 2019 and I will definitely do a check in with how the book and guide is going later on!
