Reboot Your Home’s Exterior Styling With These Simple Ideas

Reboot Your Home’s Exterior Styling With These Simple Ideas
Many people will admit to spending a lot of time making the inside of their houses look fresh, chic, and organized. They will also keep clutter to a minimum and maximize practicality, especially if they have a large family in tow. Unfortunately, those same people won’t devote as much time to the curb appeal of their properties. As a result, their homes will often look the same as most others in their street.

If those are statements that apply to you and your house, it’s time to do something about it. With that in mind, here are a few simple ideas to help you “reboot” your home’s exterior styling and boost its curb appeal:

Upgrade your exterior windows and doors

One of the first things you can do to your house is to have replacement windows and doors installed on the exterior. There are several reasons why it makes sense to do that and to carry out that change before anything else on your property. First of all, you can choose a more contemporary look to your windows and doors. Secondly, you can opt for having wider windows or doors fitted – something that is easier to do before any other exterior renovations.

And, thirdly, doing so will decrease your energy bills and increase the value of your home simultaneously!

Paint the walls

Even if your home’s exterior walls were not originally painted, doing so now offers several benefits. The most significant advantage of painting your exterior walls is that you make your home more colorful and even visible from afar. While your neighbors might object to a hot pink color scheme staring them in the face each day, neutral colors like white or gray will still make your home fresh and modern.

Another advantage of painting your exterior walls is that you help to weatherproof your home. After all; the last thing you want is to experience damp and mold problems due to cracks in the mortar between bricks.

Create perfect symmetry

It’s not just the things attached to your house that you need to look at revamping! You should also consider the little things like exterior lighting, plants, and so forth. You have the opportunity to create perfect symmetry here by doing things in parts, such as having a plant either side of your front door. You could even install lantern-style exterior lights in pairs by exterior doors.

Let there be light

Sticking with the subject of lighting, it makes sense to illuminate the path leading up to your front door. There will be times where you may have guests visiting your home in an evening, or you could be expecting a delivery such as an Amazon package or even a pizza from your local fast-food establishment!

Make it easier for visitors to find your home and not break their ankles approaching your front door by lighting up the way. Consider opting for some stylish solar lights to increase your green credentials as well as your home’s curb appeal!

Add a splash of color to your front garden

There’s nothing more inviting than approaching a home filled with a plethora of colorful and interesting plants and flowers in the front garden. You don’t have to get carried away here, of course. All you need to do is select a few choice plants that will grow well in your front garden, and spend some time maintaining them each year.

You have an array of different options when it comes to landscaping your front garden. If you’re unsure where to start, it might be worthwhile talking to a landscape gardener in your local area for advice and help.

Upgrade your fencing

Do you have fencing at the front of your home? Even if you’ve got something as simple as a picket fence, you can still refresh your fencing to something more in-keeping with your property. Of course, if you’re happy with what you’ve got, a coat or two of weatherproof paint will make your existing fencing look like new. Plus, it will help to preserve the wood and lessen the likelihood of it collapsing on a windy day!

Upgrade your gutters and downspouts

Lastly, if your gutters and downspouts have seen better days, now is the perfect opportunity to replace them with new ones! As you’ll have noticed each time you drive or walk around your neighborhood, there’s a huge choice of styling options and colors. Plus, you could opt for regular vinyl replacements or upgrade to copper ones for adding extra style and value to your home.
