Did you have to cancel summer travel plans due to the pandemic? I was supposed to go to Ireland in July and had to cancel that, unfortunately. I was literally supposed to leave next week – on the 3rd or 4th I believe. I’m hoping to at least do a weekend trip somewhere, maybe in the New England area since it’s driving distance from me. If you haven’t heard, New Jersey (where I live), New York, and Connecticut announced a joint travel advisory. Anyone traveling to one of these 3 neighboring states from a state with high COVID rates has to quarantine for 14 days. So if I were to travel anywhere later on this summer, I think it’ll be to a nearby state that has flattened their curve like we have here.
Anyway, since I’m not going anywhere anytime soon, I wanted to throw it back to a photo from when I went to Japan in 2018. By the way, if you haven’t been following my blog for that long and you’re interested just search for Japan on here and my posts should come up! So in 2018, I went on one of my favorite trips ever. My family and I went to Japan and Hong Kong. We stayed mostly in Tokyo while in Japan, but we did do a 2 day trip to Kyoto. One of the places in Kyoto we went to was the Kiyomizu Dera Temple.
Here’s a candid photo my dad took of me walking up towards the temple alongside some young women in kimonos.
Japan was amazing. The people are very friendly, the food is delicious, and it is super clean, especially in Tokyo. It was extremely hot when I was there. It’s normally hot in the summer, but they were having a bad heat wave so I was constantly sweating from morning to night unless we were in the air conditioning. I remember my cousin messaging me while I was away asking about the heat because she saw something online about how it was so hot in Japan that the fake sushi displays in restaurant windows were melting!
Anyway, I just wanted to share this photo because I love it and I wish I was going somewhere fun and new right about now!
