Ways to Spruce Up a Neglected Home

A neglected room can create a cold, unwelcoming atmosphere throughout your entire house. A neglected room can be transformed with a little work and creativity, whether it’s a spare room that’s been used as storage or a living area that’s been ignored for months. Here are some pointers and suggestions for improving a neglected space in your house.

Declutter

Decluttering is one of the most crucial steps in reviving a neglected room. Get rid of anything you don’t need or use by going through the room. This can apply to anything taking up valuable space, such as clothing, books, old magazines, and other items. After clearing out the clutter, you’ll be able to see the space for what it is and begin to plan how you want to change it.

Paint

A neglected room can benefit greatly from a fresh coat of paint. Pick a neutral colour that will create a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere in the area. If you’re feeling daring, you could also add an accent wall to the space to give it some character. A bold colour or a striking wallpaper can be used to decorate an accent wall.

Lighting

Every room needs proper lighting, which can significantly alter how a neglected space feels. Consider adding a floor or table lamp to a neglected room if there is only one overhead light to create a cosier atmosphere. Adding a dimmer switch will allow you to adjust the lighting in the space.

Pressure washing

It can be a great idea to use a pressure washer on the exterior of your home if you haven’t done so before or not for a long time. Pressure washing forces off all of that deep-seated grime and dirt that’s stuck on your home. You’ll be surprised at how much of a difference it can make when you see the results.

Window treatments

A room can feel drab if the window treatments are old or outdated. Replace them with fresh blinds, curtains, or shades that will liven up the room with colour and texture. To add a touch of elegance to the space, think about adding a valance or a pelmet to the top of the window.

Add plants

A neglected room can be revived and made to feel more alive by adding a few plants. Pick plants that are simple to maintain and will flourish in the lighting of the room. A hanging basket or terrarium can also be added to the space to add a touch of greenery.

Rearrange the furniture

Sometimes a little rearrangement is all a neglected space needs. See if rearranging the furniture results in a more hospitable atmosphere. To give the space a fresh look, you can also add a few new pieces of furniture, like a coffee table or a cosy armchair.

You can transform a neglected room into a place you’ll be proud to display by using the advice and suggestions in this article. You can restore the brand-new feel of your home with a little time and effort. Do not rush the process, take your time, and don’t be afraid to be imaginative.
