Book Review: Stolen Heir
I finally read Stolen Heir, the second book in the Brutal Birthright series by Sophie Lark. I say “finally” because I read book 1, Brutal Prince, back in April!

Stolen Heir follows Nessa Griffin and Mikolaj Wilk. We met Nessa in Brutal Prince. She is the younger sister of Callum Griffin. In Brutal Prince, the Irish (Griffins) and Italians (Gallos) had to go up against the Polish at one point and the head of the Polish crime family was killed. That man was the adoptive father of Miko and since his death, Miko has become the head of the Polish mafia in Chicago. The handsome, tattooed, head of the Braterstwo has tragedy in his past and he feels like he owes a lot to Tymon – his adoptive father who was killed during the war with the Irish and Italians. He wants to get revenge for his Tymon’s death and bring down the Griffins and Gallos. The Griffins and Gallos used to be enemies but after they made a marriage pact between Callum and Aida, they have a strong bond. His idea? Kidnap Nessa Griffin and watch the two families implode. What he wasn’t expecting? To fall for Nessa, the beautiful ballerina with a kind heart. Likewise, Nessa wasn’t expecting to fall for her captor, but she knows there is more to him than meets the eye. And he doesn’t treat her like the fragile, youngest Griffin.
I loved this book and was hooked from start to finish. I really liked seeing the Griffins and Gallos being so close and working together in this book and the slow burn between Miko and Nessa was really good. Parts of the book reminded me of The Sweetest Oblivion and The Darkest Temptation in the Made series by Danielle Lori. In The Sweetest Oblivion the fmc is a ballet dancer who has an arranged marriage with the mmc as they are from rival families in the Italian mob. In The Darkest Temptation, the fmc is kidnapped by the mmc for revenge on her father. So similar aspects to the other two books, but still a really good story! I loved both Miko and Nessa! And this was a quick read too. I read it in less than two days.
Now let’s see how long it takes me before I read book 3!
Read this book if you want a spicy mafia romance with the slow burn, forced proximity, and enemies to lovers tropes.
