Book Review: He’s Not My Type
I read the 4th book in the Vancouver Agitator series by Meghan Quinn – her spicy hockey romcom series – He’s Not My Type and loved it.

The novel follows Halsey Holmes and Blakely White. If you’ve read the previous Vancouver Agitator books (Kiss & Don’t Tell, Those Three Little Words, and Right Man Right Time) then you know Halsey is the friend/teammate in the book that is really quiet and mostly keeps to himself. We learned in the previous books that he had a twin brother who died tragically a few years ago and since then he’s mostly kept to himself and the guys leave him be. We learned in Right Man, Right Time that he has a crush on Blakely, Penny’s best friend from Those Three Little Words, but she has a boyfriend.
When He’s Not My Type begins, Halsey still likes Blakely and has to see her all the time as she works for the Agitators working in VIP relations. As Halsey laments still pining over his dream girl who is taken, the news breaks that Blakely is now single and in need of a place to live. Halsey’s friends push things along for him since he’s shy and they tell Blakely that Halsey has a spare room at his apartment and she’s welcome to stay with him.
Can Halsey handle having his dream girlfriend as his roommate? Blakely has always thoughts Halsey is really good looking and nice, but she doesn’t know much about him since he’s so quiet. She doesn’t think he’s her type. Will living with him change her mind about him?
I loved this book and Halsey and Blakely so much. Blakely grew as a person when she didn’t even know she’d been stagnant for a while in her last long term relationship. And she helped get Halsey to come out of his shell and come back to his real self and how he used to be before he lost his brother. The development of their relationship was so good. They went from being sort of friends more like acquaintances to friends to lovers and I loved every second of it! I also loved that there was no third act breakup!
Read this if you want a spicy hockey romcom with the friends to lovers, forced proximity, slow burn, one bed tropes.
