Book Review: Kiss & Don’t Tell

I’ve been wanting to read Meghan Quinn’s Vancouver Agitator series for a while now and I’ve finally started with the first book, Kiss & Don’t Tell.

Kiss & Don’t Tell follows Winnie and Pacey and is dual POV. Pacey is a star hockey goalie and is spending the summer at his friend and teammate’s luxurious cabin in the Canadian Rockies with four of his best friends and teammates. After a rough season, he’s looking forward to this time relaxing outside the city. What was supposed to be just the guys spending time together hits a speed bump when a big rainstorm hits and Winnie knocks on their door after her car gets stuck on the dirt roads of the mountain. Stuck with nowhere to go, Winnie has to take the guys up on their offer for her to stay in one of the guest rooms.

Winnie lives in Seattle, but after a rough year she’s road tripping to Banff on her own to clear her head and do some soul searching. She wasn’t expecting to meet Pacey and his friends or to stay with them until the weather clears and her car can get rescued, but there’s something about Pacey that she’s drawn to. She has spent way too long thinking negatively about herself and Pacey lifts her up and makes her feel good about herself.

The two have an easy chemistry and undeniable attraction to one another, so what could go wrong? They both think the other looks familiar, but they can’t figure out why. Little do they know, Winnie’s ex-boyfriend is Pacey’s half-brother that he has a strained relationship with!

This was a fun read and I loved how the relationship between Winnie and Pacey developed. It was nice to see Pacey let his guard down and let Winnie take care of him when he needed it since he’s usually the one taking care of others and vice versa. Winnie was used to being a caretaker and due to her last relationship her self-esteem really took a hit, but Pacey really helped her realize how amazing she is again.

While I did really like the story and love Pacey and Winnie, I think all the side characters – the guys and Winnie’s best friends – were even more entertaining! So I can’t wait to continue the series and read about the other guys’ love stories.

Read this if you want a spicy sports romcom with the forced proximity trope.
