Book Review: The Way I Hate Him
Meghan Quinn’s books always make me laugh and the spice never disappoints so I, of course, loved The Way I Hate Him – the first book in her new interconnected Almond Bay series.

The Way I Hate Him is dual POV and follows Hattie Rowley and Hayes Farrow. Hattie is back home in Almond Bay after struggling during her last semester of grad school following the death of her sister whom she was very close to. But when she returns home and thinks she’s going to stay with her boyfriend only to be immediately dumped by him she decides to get revenge. Her now ex was the assistant to Hayes Farrow, a famous musician who also grew up in Almond Bay. He was also best friends with Hattie’s older brother until they had a falling out 10 years ago and are now enemies. Her ex stole from Hayes so she decides to go to Hayes, return his things, and hope to get her ex fired. But she gets more than she bargained for. Not only does Hayes fire her ex, but hires Hattie to be his new assistant. She does need the money, but if her siblings find out she’s working for the enemy they may never forgive her.
I loved this book! Hattie and Hayes were both such good characters. They were funny and the banter was so good. They were both working through issues and found support and solace in one another. I also loved all the side characters and can’t wait to continue reading the series! So far there are books about Hattie’s sister Aubree and her best friend Maggie.
The only thing I wish was different about this book is I wanted more groveling from Hayes after the third act breakup. But, otherwise, I loved the book!
Read this if you want a spicy romcom with the small town and enemies to lovers tropes.
