Book Review: The Emperor
I read the third Dark Verse book last week, The Emperor, by RuNyx and loved reading about Dante and Amara!

In the first two books in the series it’s clear that there is something secretive between Dante and Amara and we know there is a lot of history between the two. In the first two books Dante is the heir to leading the Maroni family – the head of the Tenebrae Outfit and most powerful family in the mob. And we know that Amara grew up on Dante’s estate, her mother being the head housekeeper. But something happened years ago that left Amara banished – unable to return home and see her mother. We also know that Amara was abducted when she was a teenager and that Dante and Tristan saved her and whatever was done to her while she was gone affected her voice, which is why her voice is usually more like a whisper.
After the events towards the end of The Reaper, Dante is now the head of the family. Dante always told Amara that he had to wait until his father was dead for them to freely be together. Is it finally their time?
The novel goes back in time and shows Dante and Amara when they are young and how their friendship and love for each other developed over the years and works it way through present day. We also learn what happened to Amara when she was taken as a teenager and how it all connects to the ongoing storyline of the series – Dante, Tristan, Morana, and Amara trying to find out what happened to all the kidnapped children (Tristan’s sister included). Some questions are answered and some new ones come up through this book.
I love Dante and Amara so much! I loved seeing their relationship develop over the years and how their love endured all they went through. I was happy to see Tristan and Morana, but wish there was a little more of them, but I know they were in different cities to Dante and Amara in this book.
I’m going to wait a little bit before I start book 4 and 5 because the 6th and final book doesn’t have a release date yet so I’m going to take my time.
This series does need to be read in order, but read this if you want a spicy, dark, mafia romance with the friends to lovers and forbidden romance tropes.
