Peony Season

It’s peony season – one of my favorite flowers! I just hate how short the season is. My mom has peonies growing in her yard, but once they begin to bloom they’re usually gone a week later, maybe 2 if the weather cooperates or it doesn’t rain too hard and destroy all the flowers.

I cut a few the other day to put in my book vase. Good timing because it absolutely poured the next day and left them all drooping.

Fresh flowers always make me happy! I’ve been so busy lately, which always leads to some stress so cutting these flowers and putting them in my book vase was a nice mood booster. It made me think of Taylor Swift’s song “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart”, specifically the chorus –

I’m so depressed, I act like it’s my birthday every day
