  • Holland Ridge Farms - Tulips

    Tulips @ Holland Ridge Farms

I’m a bit late with this post as tulip season is pretty much over, but better late than never! 2 weeks ago I went down to Holland Ridge Farms, which you got a glimpse of when I posted my striped midi jumpsuit, to see the tulips. I saw a bunch of photos of the farm online and wanted to see it for myself just before the season was over. It’s supposedly the largest tulip farm on the east coast, so I had to go! There were a ton of people there despite going on a week day and I should’ve worn closed toe shoes since it was pretty dusty, but…

    #fbf Daffodils

My flashback Friday, #fbf, this time around is from just last weekend. I was taking some outfit photos at my parents house and I took a few photos of my mom’s daffodils that have just come out. I love daffodils and the bright yellow is so cheery! My parents get a ton of deer in our yard and they eat everything. But, someone recently told my mom that deer don’t eat yellow flowers – I haven’t looked in to why that is or if it’s true. But so far, so good!

    Green & White Flowers

I was scrolling through my camera roll on my phone and I came across this close up shot I took of green and white flowers back in 2017. I don’t really know why I took this photo. Maybe it was for my Instagram stories to show off a new bouquet I got. I don’t really know, but I thought I would share it on here for a flashback Friday, #fbf. And since St. Patrick’s Day is this weekend it seemed only fitting! Have a great Friday! I’ve felt so off this week and even yesterday I had to think for a minute about what day it was and was happy when…

    #fbf Fresh Flowers

Happy Friday! TGIF for sure. So for today’s edition of #fbf – Flashback Friday – I’m not really sure if it counts as a flashback. Yes, I took this photo last weekend. But, the flowers are still in the vase on my kitchen table looking fresh. So I’m not sure if it counts or not, but oh well! Having fresh flowers in the house is a nice breath of fresh air this winter. I bought them because this past Tuesday was Chinese New Year and you’re supposed to have fresh flowers in the house for it. When I was at the grocery store over the weekend to buy my groceries…

    Florists to the Field

Back in the spring I was sent a copy of a gorgeous book called Florists to the Field. Florists to the Field is a book by Garden District co-owners Greg Campbell and Erik New where they travel around the US and internationally and “document grand dining events that engage all five senses with local flavors, sounds, textures, fragrances and colors”. The result? A colorful and beyond beautiful book of photos and details from their excursions. The book is filled with photos of beautiful flowers, table settings, fields of flowers, etc. As mentioned before, I was sent this book a few months ago but now that I’m in a new townhouse with a…

    June 2018 Favorites

July already?! I can’t believe it. My summer break just started a few days ago and it’s already July! I’m going to keep my June favorites short and sweet today because I’m beyond exhausted and don’t have the energy to write a long, detailed post today. The combination of family visiting and moving is wearing me out! In any case, I have a few favorites this month (most of them just happen to be food) to share with you all! Let’s get to it – in no particular order. First up, I think one of the most annoying things is waiting forever in line at Starbucks. Sometimes it’s super quick,…

    Photo Challenge: Awakening

Happy Friday! It’s still not feeling totally spring-like here yet. The flowering trees are blooming which is nice, but there’s still no leaves on the other trees. I’m still patiently waiting. But, since most other places in the country are experiencing spring it seems right that the photo challenge last week on The Daily Post was “Awakening“. A majority of the trees might still be bare, but spring flowers are available at the stores and I couldn’t help but pick up some tulips recently. Tulips are one of my favorite spring flowers. They are so pretty! They definitely remind me of Easter, which I always associate with the start of spring.…

    Pumpkin Planters

While browsing Pinterest (what else is new) I was looking for a fall decor craft/idea. I saw pumpkins being used as planters which I thought was a brilliant idea and really cute. However, I quickly found out that the one I originally saw was made using a plastic decorative pumpkin and when I tried to search for real pumpkin planters they were either done by real florists and elaborate or hot glued succulents on top of the pumpkin. But I didn’t see a reason why I couldn’t use a real pumpkin as a planter so that’s what I did! I went to my local farmstand and got 2 medium sized…

    Photo Challenge: Structure

For last week’s photo challenge from The Daily Post, “Structure“, I took inspiration from the photo example given of a close up of a leaf. It’s easy to forget about the little things that make up the big things or the structure of something. For example, the little veins in a leaf. So taking that example as a lead, I took a few photos of a hydrangea plant I have. I made use of a macro lens I got as a secret santa gift last year and took a few shots. First, to give you an idea of what I see without looking too closely, here’s a photo of the…

    Photo Challenge: Ooh, Shiny!

Happy Friday! Now that I’m back to work I’m super happy it’s Friday! Okay, I know it’s only been 2 days back at work and the students haven’t even come in yet, but still. For last week’s photo challenge from The Daily Post, participants were challenged to share a photo of something that is guaranteed to distract them hence the “Ooh, Shiny!” challenge name. Something that is sure to distract me and stop me in my tracks to take photos of? Flowers! When I was leaving the supermarket recently I saw these potted flowers for sale on top of these pretty ceramic bird baths! The beautiful gold detailing on the…
