Book Review: The Dixon Rule

If you’ve been following my book content for the past couple years then you know I am a huge Elle Kennedy fan and most especially a huge fan of her Off-Campus series. When she released her first book in the Campus Diaries series featuring second generation characters I knew I’d love it. And I did love The Graham Effect. The second book in the series, The Dixon Rule, recently came out and it should come as no surprise that I loved it too.

This novel follows Diana Dixon, Gigi’s best friend, whom we were introduced to in The Graham Effect, and Shane Lindley, Ryder’s best friend and teammate on the Briar U hockey team. Diana is the captain of the cheerleading team at Briar University and has disliked/had a bone to pick with Shane Lindley since last year. Ever since his break up with his high school girlfriend, he has been having fun and hooking up with various girls. Which would be fine, if he wasn’t making his way through Diana’s cheerleaders and leaving behind a string of broken hearted girls. And now Shane has just moved in next door.

Diana wants to have to interact with Shane as little as possible. She even goes as far as trying to turn the whole apartment complex against the charming hockey player. However, when Shane’s ex transfers to Briar and Diana’s ex who can’t move on, moves into her building they fall into a fake dating situation. The two that didn’t want to have anything to do with one another might need each other the most now. But will things between them stay fake for long?

I loved this book! The funny moments, the spice, the relationships that Elle Kennedy builds in her books are always so good. There’s usually a serious element in her books too and The Dixon Rule was no exception. Diana has issues with her ex and Shane has family things going on. I loved how these two that started out as enemies become each other’s biggest supporters.

I knew I would like this book, but since the main characters were not one of the second generation characters I wasn’t sure just how much I would love it, but I did. Diana and Shane were so good and of course there was still cameos by Gigi, Ryder, Dean, Tucker, Logan, and other second generation characters – Blake Logan, Beau Di Laurentis, AJ Connelly, and more. There were hints of Blake making getting together with a football player in the book. I know she’s not the fmc in the next book, but I hope she gets a book!

Overall, I loved this book. Diana and Shane were so good together!

Read this if you want a spicy sports romance with the fake dating and enemies to lovers tropes.
