Day Trip to Aveiro
Last Sunday we took the train from Porto to Aveiro for a day trip. Aveiro is a popular destination in Portugal and is often called the “Venice of Aveiro” because of its canals. When we arrived in the picturesque coastal town we walked around a bit and got the infamous ovos moles pastries to try, which are specific to Aveiro. They are like thin wafers with a sugary egg filling. Some people love it and some people hate it and I loved it! I had to buy another box to take home with me. In fact, I loved the ovos moles filling taste so much that I got gelator with the ovos moles topping! I’ll go in to more details about ovos moles during a future post about all the pastries and sweet treats I ate in Portugal. We had lunch reservations at a seafood restaurant. We went on a gondola ride down one of the canals and then we walked around to some more shops before taking the train back to Porto.
Here are some highlights!

Aveiro was definitely worth the visit!
