Book Review: Praise
I’ve finally started the Salacious Players Club series by Sara Cate! I read the first book, Praise, this week.

The novel follows Charlotte “Charlie” Underwood and Emerson Grant. Charlie is a 21 year old woman who works a couple jobs to stay afloat and help her mom and little sister out with some expenses after her dad walked out. She and her boyfriend recently broke up as well so she had to move home. When she finds out that the deposit check from the apartment she rented with her ex got sent to his dad’s house, she has to go over there in order to get her half of the money back. She’s never meant her ex’s dad but she wants and needs the money. Little does she know that his dad, Emerson, is a very good looking and successful 40 year old who, along with a few friends, are the owners of the exclusive Salacious Players Club – a sex club where members have a safe space to live out their desires and kinks.
Emerson can tell Charlie needs help in the form of a better paying job and he thinks helping her out will help reconnect him with his son, who has been ignoring him ever since he opened his club. He hires Charlie to be his secretary, but makes it clear that she’s really a secretary and nothing more, since he accidentally mistook her for a sub when she first showed up at his house! But it doesn’t take long for their attraction to become distracting and for Charlie to become interested in learning more about the club and what she desires. But can things work out with between them when her ex is his son and they have an age gap?
This was a really fun read and I had a good time reading it. Age gaps don’t really bother me and I’ve read ex-boyfriend’s dad books before, but this one did seem a little off-putting even though I really did enjoy the aspect of Emerson making it his mission to help Charlie realize her self-worth and beauty. That being said, I still did mostly enjoy the book and I will be continuing the series!
Read this if you want a spicy age gap romance with the ex-boyfriend’s dad trope.
