Book Review: A False Start
I finished the Gold Rush Ranch series by Elsie Silver a few days ago with A False Start and I thought it was a nice ending to the series.

The novel follows Nadia Dalca and Griffin Sinclaire. Nadia is Stefan’s younger sister and Griffin is his best friend whom he bought his farm from. Nadia is in her early 20s and working for Mira as a vet tech at Gold Rush Ranch. After a tumultuous upbringing, Nadia is living in Ruby Creek to be near her brother and follow her dreams of becoming a veterinarian.
One night, Nadia and Griffin have a chance encounter in the bathroom of the local bar and share a passionate kiss. The best kiss of either of their lives. But it was a one time thing and they didn’t think they’d ever see each other again. Little did they know, Griffin is the guy who sold Nadia’s brother his land, but is also his closest friend. And Griffin didn’t know the girl he kissed with his best friend’s little sister. The two try to avoid each other for years, but the universe keeps throwing them back together. But when Billie is heavily pregnant with twins, Gold Rush Ranch asks Griffin to help them out with training their young horses. Now, Griffin isn’t just a guy that she tries to avoid seeing every once in a while – he’s going to be around all the time! Will the two be able to resist each other?
I really enjoyed this book and really liked Griffin and Nadia. Their age gap didn’t seem significant to me and I really liked their dynamic. Although I really liked them, I never felt like I was totally invested in their relationship so that’s why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 on GoodReads. I thought it was a good wrap up for the series though with the inclusion of the other couples and the epilogue.
Read this if you want a spicy cowboy romance with the age gap and brother’s best friend tropes.
