Fossil Hunting: Channeling My Inner Dr. Corrie Mejía and Dr. Miri Jacobs

Before my summer break was over my friend and I went to Poricy Park where there is a brook with fossil beds to go fossil hunting. Millions of years ago, this area was actually the ocean floor so you can find fossils ranging from shark teeth, mollusk fossils, squid fossils, and more. It was a cool experience. We found multiple mollusk fossils and cool shells. My friend found 2 squid fossils which are really cool fossils in a small cone shaped resin looking objects. We also found a large rock-like piece but it had a hole through it. I asked AI would it might be and it could be volcanic rock which would be cool if it is.

I felt like I was channeling my my inner Dr. Socorro “Corrie” Mejía and Dr. Miriam “Miri” Jacobs from Raiders of the Lost Heart and Temple of Swoon. While those fmcs are archaeologists, I still felt like them on an adventure and digging trying to find a piece of history!
