Book Review: Love & Other Killers

If you’ve seen my blog posts for the Ruinous Love trilogy consisting of Butcher & Blackbird, Leather & Lark, and Scythe & Sparrow then you know I’m a fan of Brynne Weaver’s dark romcom books. So when I saw that she was coming out with a novella, Love & Other Killers, featuring all the couples on the family’s annual “hunt”, I was excited to read it and saved it to read for spooky season.

This novella is told from Sloane’s point of view and the whole family (Rowan, Lachlan, Fionn, Lark, and Rose) are on their annual hunt together. The girls are competing against the guys to try to get the bad guy first. They do their investigating and then stake out the guy’s farm house waiting for him to come home. When he gets home, hilarious and stabby chaos ensues.

It was great to be reunited with all the characters and so fun to see them all on their hunt together as a family. The six of them together is even more unhinged and funny than when they’re on their own. This novella also supposedly bridges the original trilogy with Brynne Weaver’s new series. I have her new book, but haven’t gotten to read it yet so I’m looking forward to reading it and seeing how it all connects!
