Book Review: Lost & Lassoed
I’ve got another Rebel Blue Ranch book featured on here today after highlighting Swift & Saddled yesterday. Last week I read Lost & Lassoed, the third book in the series by Lyla Sage and absolutely loved it.

This novel follows August “Gus” Ryder and Theodora “Teddy” Andersen. Gus is the older brother of Emmy and Wes and Teddy is Emmy’s best friend. In the first two books, we get glimpses of how Gus and Teddy can’t stand one another and all their interactions are them roasting one another or being annoyed with the other. Knowing this, I knew I would love this book.
Gus has his 6 year old daughter, Riley, with him for the whole summer. He co-parents with Riley’s mom and his good friend Cam, but she is away in Jackson for the summer so he’s on full-time dad duty. But, he also helps his dad run Rebel Blue Ranch and has taken on more and more responsibilities as his dad gets older and gives up more control of the day to day running of the ranch. When he forgets to pick up Riley from soccer one day, his dad and siblings hold an intervention and tell him he needs someone to help him out.
Teddy has always loved clothes and making clothes. It’s part of the reason she has worked at Meadowlark’s only boutique for years. When the owner of the store decides to sell the store and move away, Teddy needs a new job until she figures out what’s next for her. When Emmy tells Gus and Teddy that this could be the solution to both of their problems. Teddy has known Riley since she was born and they love each other. She needs a job and something to do until she figures out her next step. Despite Teddy and Gus not liking each other, they both know this is the best plan for them both. Will spending so much time together cause Gus to look at Teddy in a different way? Will getting to know Gus better in one-on-one settings make Teddy appreciate how good of a man Gus actually is?
I loved this book and I think it is my favorite of the series so far! Because Gus and Teddy were “enemies” for so long it made the storyline so much more fun. They think they hate each other and then when they’re forced to see one another on a regular basis and realize how amazing the other is. I loved both Gus and Teddy and them together was just so good. Their banter that turning in to them really seeing one another and maybe being the only ones who could really see and understand each other was perfect. There was one scene where Teddy and Emmy are in a fight and Teddy defends Gus and basically says that she doesn’t see all these other facets to her brother because he’s always worried about taking care of his family etc. I also loved Riley. Little kids in books are always so cute and adorable.
Read this if you want a spicy cowboy romance with the enemies to lovers, single dad, and best friend’s brother tropes.
