When The World Seems Quieter, What Should You Do?
Have you noticed that the world around you has gotten a bit quiet lately? You don’t seem to have all that much ‘noise’ going on in your life, and you’re not quite sure how it’s making you feel.
Maybe your calendar is a bit empty right now, and the evenings feel a bit like they stretch on just a little too much?
These are all signs you’re in need of some stimulation! When the world gets quiet, it’s easy to feel both alone and lonely – and living like this for too long can leave a chronic impact on your mental wellness.
But what can you do to make life feel a bit louder and brighter again? Here’s just a couple of things to think about trying out.

Reach Out
That’s the main thing. If the world is quiet because you don’t have much to do, or you haven’t seen friends in a while, it’s time to reach out. All you need to do is pick up the phone and shoot off a message.
Talk to friends
If you haven’t heard from a certain person in a while, drop them a message to just check in. Ask how they’re doing, see if they want to meet up, and be as open and positive as you can.
Join a club
If your friends all live 100 miles away and you can’t get to see them for another couple of months, it’s time to enrich your social circle in the local area.
Make the world feel a bit more lively again by joining a local club, or going to a set of classes down the town. The more you show your face, the more people are going to want to include you!
Get Your Hearing Tested
There are so many mental health worries that have a physical base to them.
So many people don’t realize this, and thus they worry about where their low energy and lack of interest in things comes from. And then it turns out they had a case of mono or needed to be referred to a chronic fatigue specialist!
So along the same vein, when you’re feeling like the world seems a lot quieter than it used to be, it’s worth it to quickly get your hearing checked. It’s the only way to know for sure that you’re not in need of some bluetooth hearing aids that make it easier to hop on calls with your friends, what with the aids themselves able to connect to your phone directly.
And if you’ve also noticed that you never really hear the traffic go past your window anymore, or when you’re out of a walk the leaves underfoot don’t seem all that crunchy anymore, it could be that you’re dealing with a level of hearing loss. Get a quick test in and double check.
When the world gets a bit quiet, check in with both your mental AND physical health. They both could need some TLC.
