Book Review: Bedeviled

I just finished Bedeviled, the last book in the Bewitched series by Laura Thalassa yesterday.

The novel picks up where Bespelled left off. Memnon and Selene remember all about their past life together as soulmates 2,000 years ago before Memnon was cursed to sleep by Selene in order to save him and Selene (Roxilana) was killed by the evil Eislyn and reborn as Selene in present day. They also learned towards the end of the previous book that Eislyn lives and is behind the evil things happening now. The two, along with some help from Selene’s coven sisters and an appearance from The Bargainer, unravel the mystery of what Eislyn is up to, why, and how to defeat her.

I liked this book, but honestly I was expecting it to be a lot more action packed and nonstop considering it’s the last book in the series. Things didn’t really start to pick up or start happening until well after the halfway point. I felt like everything in the first 50-60% of the book was slow and a little boring. That made it feel like it was dragging to me. Once things picked up in the second half of the book I began to enjoy it more. I really liked the way everything ended and how the series wrapped up. But, I definitely was expecting more out of a final book in a series.
