    Photo Challenge: Favorite Place

Since I wrote about Hawaii in my photo challenge response last week I didn’t want to talk about it again this week for “Favorite Place” even though Hawaii is one of my favorites places on earth. Instead, I decided to use a photo from another place I love – Disney World! I went to Disney World this past December and while I’ve been there a handful of times before this was the first time I’ve gone at Christmas time and it was as magical as I had been anticipating. Magic Kingdom is my favorite – it’s just so magical and when you’re there (or at least when I’m there) it really…

    Photo Challenge: I’d Rather Be…

Yesterday I was supposed to have a delayed opening due to the snow, but it turned out to be a day off. Not one to usually complain about a day off from work (except for now I keep losing days of summer break), I was exceptionally bored yesterday. I’m done with winter now and I really need spring! So for last week’s photo challenge from The Daily Post, “I’d Rather Be…” it was a no-brainer. I’d rather be in Hawaii, my favorite place on earth! I’ve shared this photo on here once or twice before, but I don’t think I’ve ever used it for a photo challenge. Regardless, it’s just…

    Photo Challenge: Story

We made it to Friday! Last week’s photo challenge from The Daily Post was “Story” and I wanted to find a photo of mine that told a visual story but at the same time made you wonder what the real story was. I took this photo in November when on a field trip with some students on a beach clean up trip. We went to Island Beach State Park for a few hours and the rangers provided us with gloves and garbage bags. Upon walking on to the beach it looked pristine, empty, and beautiful. But once we started digging a bit under the top layer of sand we found…

Photo Challenge: Out of This World

I have to preface this post by saying these photos are 100% real! I say that because once you see the large photo of the moon, you might find it unbelievable. When I saw that last week’s photo challenge from The Daily Post was “Out of This World“, I knew this was the photo I had to use. A few years ago, when I was in Hawaii, my family and I went on a tour up to the top of Mauna Kea to see the sunset. On the way down, we stopped halfway for stargazing. The tour company set up a high powered telescope and told us about the constellations and…

Photo Challenge: A Face in the Crowd

Happy Friday! We’re supposed to get rain and heavy winds all day today so my original outfit plans, which I was going to document for the blog, got pushed back. But that’s ok, I’ll just shuffle some things around. Looking back at a less dreary time, I’m flashing back to my trip to Florida at the end of 2017. If you’re a regular follower of my blog then you might know that I went to Disney World and Universal Studios at the end of December. It was my first time to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and it did not disappoint. Overall, I love Disney more than Universal Studios, but…

    Photo Challenge: Sweet

Happy Friday! I’ve been having pretty good or at least decent days lately but yesterday I felt really frustrated and annoyed for various reasons. Lately, I’ve been practicing the idea of thinking positive and giving off positive energy so I’ll receive positive energy and good things back. Ya know, that whole idea of law of attraction. But yesterday really had me wondering if I should just scrap it all! I didn’t let the bad day get to me and I got home from work, did my BBG work out for the day and relaxed while watching the Olympics and felt better. Today I’m going to a professional development workshop at…

    Photo Challenge: Tour Guide

Last week’s photo challenge from The Daily Post was “Tour Guide” and asked participants to share a photo that let them serve as a sort of tour guide to their town. I, like probably many people who don’t live in a city, don’t have a lot of photos of my town because I live in the suburbs and what’s there really to take photos of? So I’m sharing a photo from a few months ago at a pond in my town. I’m in the photo so I didn’t take it but in a way this works out because it’s like I’m really your tour guide. In recent years my town has really…

    Photo Challenge: Beloved

When I thought of what to use for my photo challenge response to “Beloved“, I had a specific pair of earrings in mind. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the earrings, but I found an equally beloved piece of jewelry – this pink cubic zirconia ring. I’ve worn this ring in outfits on the blog before, but this post is going to be about the background of this ring and why it’s beloved. This ring belonged to my mom and she gave it to me, which is one reason it’s beloved, but there’s actually more to the story. When I was really young I used to play dress up all the time.…

Photo Challenge: Variations on a Theme

Happy Friday! This has felt like the longest week. Anyone else feel that way? For last week’s photo challenge from The Daily Post, I thought for a while of what I could use. The challenge was “Variations on a Theme“. The example given was of a whole display of different forms of gouda cheese at a shop in Amsterdam. Such a great example! I have similar photos from my trip, but didn’t want to do the same thing. But I did choose a food photo. I took this photo back in September when I was at a macaron shop, Woops!, at the mall. I love macarons and since I don’t…

    Photo Challenge: Silence

Friday I thought you’d never come! I’ve had a cough all week and I desperately need some downtime this weekend. Unfortunately, I have to go in to work tomorrow for an open house event, but at least I can sleep in a bit. Last week’s photo challenge from The Daily Post was “Silence” and I decided to go with this photo I took during (well technically after) a snowstorm back in 2016. I love the end of a snowstorm when everything is silent, still, and peaceful outside. Do you know what I’m talking about? You open your door and everything is completely still outside. The snow plows haven’t started yet.…
