    Carrot Cake

Carrot cake sometimes gets a bad rap and I don’t know why, because I think it’s delicious and underrated! I’m planning on making this carrot cake this weekend so I thought I would share some photos of a time I made it a while ago. Plus, I think it would be a great dessert for an upcoming dinners you’re having this spring such as Easter. I use Pioneer Woman’s carrot cake recipe, but I don’t make cream cheese frosting – I just use whipped cream which is what I prefer. The other change I make is that I mix white and brown sugar instead of only using white. Oh, I…

  • Soft Pretzels

    Soft Pretzels

I don’t know about you, but I love soft pretzels. Lately, I’ve been buying a container from Wegman’s . They’re bite size but the container/bucket is pretty big so it’s hard for me to get through before they go bad so I only get them once in a while, when I know I will be around to eat them throughout the week. Anyway, last year I started making soft pretzels on my own and although I’ve only made them twice, they were so good. The reason I held off for so long on making them on my own is because it involves yeast, and if you’ve been following me for…

  • Nutella Snowball Cookie

    Nutella Snowballs

It’s my last day of work for 2018! It’s crazy how fast this year has gone by and I can’t believe Christmas is just days away. If you’ve been following me for a while then you know every year my mom and I make a ton of Christmas cookies. And I’m not exaggerating. We make hundreds of cookies and all different kinds! There are some that we make every year like sugar cookies, apricot cookies, rugelach, etc. and some we make some years and not others depending on what we’re in the mood to make. Usually every year we try out a new cookie too and this year I wanted…

  • Harry Potter Sugar Cookies

    Harry Potter Sugar Cookies

So remember when I bought the Star Wars pancake molds from Williams-Sonoma? When I bought those I also bought Harry Potter cookie cutters. I’ve had a lot more success with the cookie cutters than with the pancake molds so far! For Thanksgiving I made a batch of sugar cookies with the cookie cutters. I decorated them with sprinkles in the colors of the Hogwarts houses. I know they’re not exactly the right shades of colors, but it’s the best I could do with supermarket sprinkles! With the exception of a couple of cookies where the imprint didn’t come out as deep and clear, they came out really good! I love…

  • Cocoa Crinkle Cookies

    Cocoa Crinkle Cookies

Who doesn’t love chocolate? I’m not a big sweets person, but chocolate I can do as long as it’s not super rich. Thankfully these scrumptious cocoa crinkle cookies aren’t too rich. My mom and I have been making these for a year or two now and they’re so good! We follow the Hershey’s recipe (here) but just cut down on the sugar – instead of 2 cups we use 1 1/2. While this recipe is pretty easy to follow and the cookies aren’t hard to make, it’s important to note that they are not quick cookies. The batter has to be refrigerated for at least 6 hours. It’s a good…

  • Orange Cranberry Scone

    Orange Cranberry Scones

Happy Mother’s Day to all my mommy readers! When I think of scones, I always think of that episode of Friends when Ross is mad at Emily (his British ex-wife), orders a scone at Central Perk, sets it down and smashes it while shouting “stupid British snack food!” But in all seriousness, scones are delicious and I have some photos of orange cranberry scones that I never shared on here so I thought I’d share it this Mother’s Day. So for this recipe, I used this Simple Scone Recipe , but added in orange zest and substituted dried cranberries for the raisins (which is actually a note on the recipe). Click the…

  • Blueberry Pie

    Blueberry Pie

Do you remember the tv show “Pushing Daisies”? The show was so good, but sadly cut short like so many shows during that writers strike that happened back about 10 years ago. Anyway, I loved the show and the main character had a pie shop. The pie’s always looked so good and made me crave pies all the time! My pies don’t look as perfect as the ones on “Pushing Daisies”, but that doesn’t stop me from making these delicious desserts. The pie I’m sharing with you today is a Blueberry Pie. So easy to make and you know I like easy recipes. First, I wash some fresh blueberries. Dry…

  • Irish Soda Bread

Irish Soda Bread with a Twist

With St. Patrick’s Day coming up this weekend I wanted to share my version of Irish Soda Bread. When I was younger, my aunt used to always make Irish soda bread and eventually my mom started to make it herself at home, but she changed up the recipe a bit. It’s essentially like a typical soda bread recipe, except instead of raisins or currants we use craisins and we also add in walnuts. Last year, we changed it even further by adding some dried apricots and it was such a good addition to an already delicious recipe. For this recipe, I use: 3 cups all purpose flour 1/2 cup of…

  • Vermont Holiday Gingerbread Farmhouse

    Gingerbread Dreams

I’m not an expert in gingerbread houses at all. I think in the few times I’ve ever made one they’ve been pretty basic and sloppy looking. But, that doesn’t stop me from looking in awe at all the pretty creations other people and professionals make! Last year, I did a holiday post showing off some gorgeous Mannequin Christmas Trees so this year I thought I’d round up some beautiful gingerbread house creations I found on the internet. Los Angeles Magazine shared this photo of a Beverly Wilshire Hotel Gingerbread House. It’s huge and so detailed! The next few I rounded up from Country Living. How intricate is this stone house? I kinda…

  • Chipwich

I love ice cream, but sometimes you just want to switch it up. I make chocolate chip cookies every so often and by that I mean maybe once a month or every other month. So one day after making a batch I thought – chipwich! I hadn’t had one in ages so I thought I’d make one. If I had known ahead of time that I would be doing this I would’ve made sure to make my cookies a little softer as opposed to crunchy because after it freezes it obviously gets harder. So the cookies were a bit crumbly since they were harder to bite in to but it was…
