    Balsam Hill Christmas Tree

    December 4, 2019 /

My Christmas tree went up the day before Thanksgiving and I love it! For almost all my life I’ve put up Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving, but Thanksgiving was so late this year that I wanted to do my tree early. But then I got busy so I only got to do it the day before….so not that much earlier, but whatever. Anyway, I have wanted a Balsam Hill Christmas Tree for years and being the Hallmark Christmas movie junkie that I am (if you are too then you know that they always have Balsam Hill Christmas trees!) it was my top choice. So you may remember last year I…

    More Christmas Decor

    December 12, 2018 /

Happy Wednesday! We’ve made it halfway through the week. I have just 7 more days of work (including today) before winter break! I can’t believe Christmas is right around the corner. I’ve already shared with you all my Christmas tree this year and my garland on my stairs. Today I’m sharing some more Christmas decor I’ve got going on in here. My fireplace mantel, my buffet table, and my outdoor wreath. First, my fireplace. I got garland for my mantel and a wreath to put over it from Target. They didn’t come together, but they’re the same brand so they match. I thought about putting some of my LED lights…

Disney Vacation – Day 4: Magic Kingdom

    January 1, 2018 /

I can’t believe it’s 2018! That just sounds crazy! I’ve been away the past week and arriving back home on New Year’s Eve really has me turned around. Yesterday didn’t feel like New Year’s Eve since I was traveling so today being New Year’s day feels a bit weird. But anyway, on to today’s post. The other day, I mentioned that Magic Kingdom is indeed magical. The most magical of all the Disney parks, in my opinion. So on Friday, we spent the entire day at Magic Kingdom. It was our last Disney day as the following day I’d be going to Universal, purely for the Wizarding World of Harry…

Disney Vacation Day 1: Disney Springs

    December 28, 2017 /

As some of you may already know, I’m in Orlando this week for Christmas vacation! I’ve been posting a ton on my Instagram stories with all that I’ve been up to. My family and I flew down to Atlanta on Christmas day and spent Christmas day with my family that lives there. Then, the next day we all drove down to Orlando to spend a few days in Disney and one day at Universal. After a long drive, our first evening was spent at Disney Springs to walk around and get dinner. Disney Springs is so much nicer and classier than when I came back in high school and college.…

    Christmas Tablescapes

    December 18, 2017 /

As many of you know, if you are a regular reader of Life According to Jamie, I love looking at different tablescapes and home decor inspo posts. I’ve done Thanksgiving tablescape posts twice before (catch my one from this year here) and I did a Christmas decor inspiration post last year. This year I wanted to do a Christmas tablescape inspo post. I found all of these on Pinterest, but have linked to the website where the pin was from (or at least where it brought me when I clicked on the pin). First up, I love these gold, sparkling Christmas trees as a centerpiece with the mixture of levels…

    Photo Challenge: Transformation

    December 1, 2017 /

For last week’s photo challenge, “Transformation“, I took the easy way out since Christmas decorating commenced promptly after Thanksgiving last week. There are so many things to choose from to fit the “Transformation” challenge. Bare Christmas trees turned into beautiful, glittering trees. Plain front doors bedecked with festive wreaths. Garland and/or lights covering banisters and railings. The list goes on. For the past two years I’ve been putting ornaments in a large vase. I wrote about it in a past post (here). Large vases are gorgeous with fresh flowers (and you all know I’m a huge fan of flowers), but they are just as beautiful during the holidays filled to…

The Kingdom of the Feared is the last book in the The Kingdom of the Feared is the last book in the Kingdom of the Wicked trilogy by @kerrimaniscalco and I loved it 🖤. Each book was better than the last! I don't want to spoil it, but the book picks up exactly where Kingdom of the Cursed left off and now Emilia is more determined than ever to break the curse that is limiting her powers, messing with her memory, and also limiting Wrath and his brothers from their full power and freedom. Emilia works to uncover her true self. There were so many twists in this book that I didn't see coming and I loved every second of it. Emilia and Wrath were perfection and I loved their love for each other 🥹. The spice continues to kick up in this book and was so good 💗.

I already miss this world and am sad that the series is over, but I can't wait for the spinoff books! My full review is on the blog ✨

It’s been a few months since I’ve done one of It’s been a few months since I’ve done one of these posts! “You’ll Get Over It” was my most played song in recent weeks and it made me think of It Happened One Summer 📚🎶

It reminds me of how Piper is sent away from her wealthy lifestyle in LA to a small fishing town in Washington state. Her whole life as she’s known it is gone, she’s heartbroken, and has no idea what she’s doing with her life, but she comes into her own in Westport. She learns more about who she is and what she wants. She learns to be independent. And she finds love in a grumpy sea captain. Her life ends up being better than ever! 💗

3 Count by @nikkicastleromance is the third and l 3 Count by @nikkicastleromance is the third and latest book in the Fight Game series. I’ve loved them all so far and this one is no exception! ❤️📚

3 Count follows Aiden, whom we’ve met in the previous books. He trains at the same MMA gym as the previous main characters and is a college senior. One day he meets Dani, a photojournalist also in her early 20s with an adventurous streak. After hooking up in a restricted area and running away from security, the two don’t exchange contact info but can’t stop thinking about one another. When they run into each other one day their chemistry is undeniable, but neither wants a relationship so they enter into a friends with benefits situation and you can guess how that goes! 📸🥊

I really liked the storyline and the development of their friendship and feelings for one another. I especially loved Aiden! He was just such an all around good guy 💕.

Read this if you want a spicy sports romance and/or the friends with benefits to lovers trope! My full review is on the blog ✨

Kingdom of the Cursed by @kerrimaniscalco is the s Kingdom of the Cursed by @kerrimaniscalco is the second book in the Kingdom of the Wicked trilogy and I absolutely loved it 🖤. I loved the first book, but this one I loooooved. This fantasy romance picks up right where Kingdom of the Wicked left off. Emilia is now in the Seven Circles with Wrath after making a deal with Pride, much to Wrath's dislike. When she arrives in House Wrath, he begins training her so she can be prepared to meet his brothers and avoid them using their sins to take advantage of or control her. 📖

I loved the twists and turns as Emilia works to still unravel the mystery of her sister's murder and the curse. The tension between her and Wrath is even better in this book! 😍🥵 The details in the food, the houses, and Emilia's gowns every day was amazing. This book definitely took a jump in spice level and went from a steamy YA first book to New Adult this book and I loved it! I can't wait to finish the last book! My full review is on the blog 📚✨

Upcoming historical fiction novel The Lioness of L Upcoming historical fiction novel The Lioness of Leiden was so engaging. I didn't really know anything about the Dutch Resistance during WWII so this was very interesting to me. Robert Loewen's novel is inspired by his mother-in-law who served as a courier for the Dutch Resistance. The novel follows a few different characters, but focuses on Hetty - a young university student in Leiden, Netherlands. When the war reaches the Netherlands Hetty, like many others, want to do something to fight the Nazis. Her boyfriend, Karl, introduces her to the Resistance. After he disappears, Hetty is more determined than ever to do what she can to defeat the Nazis and the Germans occupying her country. 📖

The novel has sad parts as expected with the subject, but I was in awe of the risks Hetty and the others took to do what they could to help. Even after losing loved ones, it only fueled Hetty's motivation. The novel comes out on April 4. My full review is on the blog ✨
