    Balsam Hill Christmas Tree

My Christmas tree went up the day before Thanksgiving and I love it! For almost all my life I’ve put up Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving, but Thanksgiving was so late this year that I wanted to do my tree early. But then I got busy so I only got to do it the day before….so not that much earlier, but whatever. Anyway, I have wanted a Balsam Hill Christmas Tree for years and being the Hallmark Christmas movie junkie that I am (if you are too then you know that they always have Balsam Hill Christmas trees!) it was my top choice. So you may remember last year I…

    More Christmas Decor

Happy Wednesday! We’ve made it halfway through the week. I have just 7 more days of work (including today) before winter break! I can’t believe Christmas is right around the corner. I’ve already shared with you all my Christmas tree this year and my garland on my stairs. Today I’m sharing some more Christmas decor I’ve got going on in here. My fireplace mantel, my buffet table, and my outdoor wreath. First, my fireplace. I got garland for my mantel and a wreath to put over it from Target. They didn’t come together, but they’re the same brand so they match. I thought about putting some of my LED lights…

Disney Vacation – Day 4: Magic Kingdom

I can’t believe it’s 2018! That just sounds crazy! I’ve been away the past week and arriving back home on New Year’s Eve really has me turned around. Yesterday didn’t feel like New Year’s Eve since I was traveling so today being New Year’s day feels a bit weird. But anyway, on to today’s post. The other day, I mentioned that Magic Kingdom is indeed magical. The most magical of all the Disney parks, in my opinion. So on Friday, we spent the entire day at Magic Kingdom. It was our last Disney day as the following day I’d be going to Universal, purely for the Wizarding World of Harry…

Disney Vacation Day 1: Disney Springs

As some of you may already know, I’m in Orlando this week for Christmas vacation! I’ve been posting a ton on my Instagram stories with all that I’ve been up to. My family and I flew down to Atlanta on Christmas day and spent Christmas day with my family that lives there. Then, the next day we all drove down to Orlando to spend a few days in Disney and one day at Universal. After a long drive, our first evening was spent at Disney Springs to walk around and get dinner. Disney Springs is so much nicer and classier than when I came back in high school and college.…

    Christmas Tablescapes

As many of you know, if you are a regular reader of Life According to Jamie, I love looking at different tablescapes and home decor inspo posts. I’ve done Thanksgiving tablescape posts twice before (catch my one from this year here) and I did a Christmas decor inspiration post last year. This year I wanted to do a Christmas tablescape inspo post. I found all of these on Pinterest, but have linked to the website where the pin was from (or at least where it brought me when I clicked on the pin). First up, I love these gold, sparkling Christmas trees as a centerpiece with the mixture of levels…

    Photo Challenge: Transformation

For last week’s photo challenge, “Transformation“, I took the easy way out since Christmas decorating commenced promptly after Thanksgiving last week. There are so many things to choose from to fit the “Transformation” challenge. Bare Christmas trees turned into beautiful, glittering trees. Plain front doors bedecked with festive wreaths. Garland and/or lights covering banisters and railings. The list goes on. For the past two years I’ve been putting ornaments in a large vase. I wrote about it in a past post (here). Large vases are gorgeous with fresh flowers (and you all know I’m a huge fan of flowers), but they are just as beautiful during the holidays filled to…

    Christmas Home Decor Goals

A few weeks ago at Thanksgiving I wrote a post about Thanksgiving tablescape goals and I really enjoyed putting that together so I wanted to do a similar post today. Instead of focusing on table settings though, I wanted to round up some home decor goals for Christmas. I love Christmas decorations and ever since I was little I wanted more and more decorations than what we already had. I would watch Christmas movies that had houses filled with multiple trees and garland everywhere and think – that’s what I want! The thing is I have such a wide range of tastes that I think I’d have to do a different…

    Mannequin Christmas Trees

I’m not sure how long Mannequin Christmas Trees have been a thing but I first noticed them last year. I saw pictures of them online last year and thought they looked so cool and beautiful. Then, I found out that as part of the White House Christmas decorations they had a room full of Mannequin Christmas Trees last year! This year, I’ve been seeing them online again as well as in some stores and window displays. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, Mannequin Christmas Trees are mannequins, more specifically dress forms, that are dressed in Christmas tree branches and trimmings and decorated in all different ways. I’ve seen ribbon,…

Photo Challenge: It’s Not This Time of Year Without…

I can’t believe it’s December! This past week’s photo challenge from The Daily Post was “It’s Not This Time of Year Without…” For my whole life my family has done Christmas decorating the weekend after Thanksgiving, much like others in the country. It seems immediately after Thanksgiving is over we find it acceptable to switch gears to Christmas and I’m all for it. So for my photo challenge response I took a picture of some Christmas decoration details, because it wouldn’t be this time of year without them. In the photo you can see my Christmas tree in the background, a few ornaments, and part of my stocking which I…

  • Six Flags - Holiday in the Park

    Holiday in the Park

This holiday season the Six Flags by me (Six Flags Great Adventure) opened for “Holiday in the Park”. Normally, the park closes after their Fright Fest days for Halloween and reopens in the spring. As soon as I heard that they were going to be open for the holiday season and that the park would be “transformed into a winter wonderland with over a million twinkling lights” I knew I had to go! Contrary to Christmas day, it was actually pretty chilly out yesterday. It was the strangest thing going on roller coasters in the cold weather! Fair warning, this is a picture heavy post. I went a little click…
