Tsukiji Fish Market, Making Sushi, & Asakusa
When this post goes live I should be at the airport flying out of Japan and to Hong Kong. I say should because as I write this there is a typhoon on its way and they’re not sure if it will make landfall/hit Tokyo or not between Wednesday and Thursday. I’m hoping it stays out at sea because I don’t want it to ruin my travel plans! Today’s post is about what I did on Monday which was take a tour through the Tsukiji Fish Market, take a sushi class, and walk around Asakusa – a large open-air market. We were supposed to meet our guide from ABC Cooking Studio at…

Kyoto Day 2
As promised yesterday, I’m back with day 2 of my weekend trip to Kyoto while I vacation in Japan. Day 1 was very tiring because of the extreme heat and lack of air conditioning on the bus, but the sights in Nara were worth it. I’m pleased to say that Day 2 was filled with other beautiful and awe inspiring sights and included buses with air conditioning! This will also be another picture heavy post because we saw so many beautiful sights. There also may be a picture or two that are mislabeled because when I was going through them I lost track of the order and some of the places…

Kyoto – Day 1
I have to preface this post by telling you that this is going to be a picture heavy post! I took so many photos during day 1 of Kyoto and these are just a handful (large handful) of them! If you’ve been keeping up with my Instastories then you know I spent the weekend in Kyoto. My family and I packed overnight bags (shout out to the amazing foldable Eddie Bauer bags that zip up in to a pouch that we also took with us to Alaska a few summers ago!), took the bullet train from Tokyo and arrived in Kyoto a little over 2 hours later. We booked a 2…

Shinjuku, Harajuku, & Meiji Shrine
After passing out around 10:45 on Thursday night, I woke up wide awake at 3:30am. Luckily, I was able to fall back asleep around 4:30 until 7am and then had a very busy first full day in Tokyo. I had heard that summers in Japan and Hong Kong are very humid, but I don’t think anything could have prepared me for how much I would sweat. It is so hot! So just be prepared for me to look progressively more like a hot mess in photos each day. You’ll notice my hair down and straight at the beginning of the day and up and a sweaty mess by the end!…

Foodie Diary: Disney/Universal
I hope you’re not sick of my travel posts yet, but this is my last one and then it’s back to regular programming! This post has photos of all the food I ate while on vacation last week. Well, relevant food that is – I didn’t think it necessary to post my continental breakfast every day! I’m not going to go in to much detail on each meal because that would take forever, but I will link to the restaurant and tell you the name of each dish! Disney Springs For dinner in Disney Springs the first night we got to Florida, my family and I went to Frontera Cocina, a…

Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Part 2
Yesterday I wrote about the first half of my day at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter last week at Universal Studios Orlando and I mentioned that I had so many pictures that I wanted to share that I had to split the post in two. So I’m back today with Part 2! Forgive me in advance if I write any sentences that don’t make sense. I’m writing this ahead of time (Tuesday night) and I came home from work today with a high fever. I’m taking a sick day tomorrow since my temperature isn’t back to normal yet and I have burst of energy right now – enough to…

Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Part 1
On my last full day of vacation, a few of us (it was a family vacation) went to Universal Studios primarily to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Being a huge Potter fan, I was excited to go and see Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, and Diagon Alley! Although we only spent 1 day there, I took a billion pictures of everything there. They did a superb job at making everything so detailed. Since I took so many photos I’m splitting this visit to the park into two posts just so I don’t inundate you with so many photos. I think I picked out over 50 photos to share with you all…

Disney Vacation – Day 4: Magic Kingdom
I can’t believe it’s 2018! That just sounds crazy! I’ve been away the past week and arriving back home on New Year’s Eve really has me turned around. Yesterday didn’t feel like New Year’s Eve since I was traveling so today being New Year’s day feels a bit weird. But anyway, on to today’s post. The other day, I mentioned that Magic Kingdom is indeed magical. The most magical of all the Disney parks, in my opinion. So on Friday, we spent the entire day at Magic Kingdom. It was our last Disney day as the following day I’d be going to Universal, purely for the Wizarding World of Harry…

Disney Vacation Day 3: Magic Kingdom & Epcot
If you’ve been to Disney World and especially if you’re fan I think you’ll understand what I mean when I say there’s a certain feeling of magic and wonder when you first walk through the gates of Magic Kingdom. It is the happiest place on earth after all! The music starts right away, the decorations are everywhere and you make your way to Main Street which feels like a dream world with the iconic Cinderella Castle greeting you at the end of the street. On Day 3 we spent a few hours at Magic Kingdom before spending the rest of the day at Epcot. We didn’t have any FastPasses for…

Disney Vacation Day 2: Animal Kingdom & Hollywood Studios
On Day 2 of my Christmas vacation to Disney World, we went to both Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. I haven’t been to either of these parks in years so it was nice to return. The last time I was near Animal Kingdom it was a few years ago for lunch at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, but I wasn’t at the actual park. And the last time I was at Hollywood Studios was when I was a freshman in college, I believe, and that was quite a number of years ago. The parks are always being updated and new things being added. This year Pandora – the Avatar section –…
