Iceland Day 2: Blue Lagoon & Thingvellir National Park
Day 2 in Iceland was on Tuesday and the highlights of the day were the Blue Lagoon and Thingvellir National Park. First, if you didn’t know Iceland (like when I went to Alaska a few years ago) in the summertime has 20 hours of sunlight in the summer. Here’s a photo from my hotel room at 11pm the night before! The Blue Lagoon is an extremely popular geothermal spa. Depending on what kind of package you buy will determine what amenities you get, but the basic package is that you get one free face mask and one free drink while you’re in the hot springs. You walk/swim up to the…

Iceland Day 1: Hallgrimskirkja, Rainbow Street, & More
I’ve been on vacation in Iceland the past few days! We flew out Sunday night and with the time difference landed early Monday morning. Here’s a look at the highlights from day 1. After getting in to Reykjavik from the airport, our first stop (after breakfast at the hotel – a food post to come later) was Hallgrimskirkja which is a famous church with incredible views of the city from the top. You can enter the church for free, but you do have to pay a fee to go up to the top. The statue in front of the church is of Lief Erikson. Then I wanted to check out…

DC Diary: Museum Hopping
Today I head home from my little trip to DC. It was a good amount of time in the city, although there is more that I need to come back to see. I didn’t get to go to Alexandria, as previously planned due to holiday hours for the water taxi, and we didn’t want to rush. There are also so many more museums I want to see and ones that I want to spend more time in. But, 2 full days in DC was a nice little trip and I’d never been here during the holidays. Yesterday was rainy for most of the day so it worked out well that…

Hong Kong Park + Afternoon Tea @ The Peninsula
I’m officially back at work and still so sleepy by the afternoon. But this week is a busy one with social plans and possibly jury duty (please don’t pick me!) and an equally busy weekend coming up so maybe next week when things slow down I’ll feel more rested. Last Wednesday, on my last full day in Hong Kong, I started the morning off by going on a short walk in Hong Kong Park which is just a walk through Pacific Place and escalator ride away from my hotel. It was a short stroll so I didn’t explore much of the park besides the little pond and fountain. There’s a…

Hong Kong Wandering
Today’s travel post about my trip to Hong Kong is a bit different because on this particular day there wasn’t anything in particular we had planned to do or see. We just walked around, ate at multiple stops, shopped a little, and tried to avoid the rain. It was a slower paced day, which was nice since we’d been going nonstop for so much of the 2 week vacation. We started out the day in Causeway Bay for a really good lunch at Pepper Lunch – a chain at a food court – and then did some more shopping before heading over to Wan Chai for freshly made chips and…

Wan Chai + Pool Time in Hong Kong
Monday was a slower paced, more relaxing day in Hong Kong. We took the MTR one stop to Wan Chai to do some shopping – primarily food/dried goods shopping. My parents wanted to stock up on things that are either hard to get or you can’t get in the States and I got some snacks for myself and gifts for others. Then, we took the ding ding to Causeway Bay because my dad had lunch plans with old school friends. I didn’t get any shots outside, except for one across the street from Times Square. While my dad was at lunch, the rest of us went to do some more…

Central, Symphony of Lights, & Victoria Peak
I’m now back in the States and writing from New Jersey! I had a great 2 weeks in Japan and Hong Kong. Luckily, I still have a few travel posts to write up so I can relive vacation and forget that I’m going to work on Monday. On Sunday, the day started off a little cloudy with some on/off rain. We took the MTR over to the Central District for a dim sum lunch with family in one of the Exchange Square buildings. After trying to get there early so we could walk around the big mall next door and being unsuccessful, we had a delicious lunch which I’ll show…

Mt. Fuji & Shinjuku at Night
As I write this it is Wednesday evening and I’m relaxing in my hotel room in Tokyo hiding from the rain and having just woken up from a nap. I haven’t been feeling well the past day and a half and I think I caught a cold. So the rainy weather caused by a typhoon on its way was the perfect excuse to spend the latter part of the day indoors. Plus, I have to be up at 4am tomorrow for my flight which I hope still takes off! But this post isn’t about the weather or my cold – well okay, it’s a little about the weather because it…
