Some photos from my snow day.

#fbf Snowy Tree
I wrote yesterday about how I’m hoping for at least one snow day before winter’s over. It’s been an unusually quiet winter and while winters that have constant snow storms gets annoying and tiring, it’s also so weird to not have any snow! We had snow twice I think this season but both times it was very little and pretty much gone the next day. I just need a dose of winter prettiness and not just cold, bleak winter days. And a snow day from work wouldn’t hurt either! So for my Flashback Friday, I’m throwing it back to 2 years ago when we had a snow storm and the…

Snowfall, It’s Not Just Fun And Snowball Games
Oh, the weather outside is frightful But the fire is so delightful And since we’ve no place to go Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. Ah, snow. It is almost everywhere, and if you’re stuck at home, you need to make the most of it. Go on, set your Spotify list on a loop with Dean Martin’s suave and warm voice whispering in your ears in the morning. There’s nothing better to put a smile on your face. However, don’t buy into his words too quickly. Snow can be fun and deeply romantic – especially if you were to trust Dean –, but it can be a…

Photo Challenge: Silence
Friday I thought you’d never come! I’ve had a cough all week and I desperately need some downtime this weekend. Unfortunately, I have to go in to work tomorrow for an open house event, but at least I can sleep in a bit. Last week’s photo challenge from The Daily Post was “Silence” and I decided to go with this photo I took during (well technically after) a snowstorm back in 2016. I love the end of a snowstorm when everything is silent, still, and peaceful outside. Do you know what I’m talking about? You open your door and everything is completely still outside. The snow plows haven’t started yet.…

This Winter
The past 2 days I’ve been home since school’s been closed due to snow/ice days. For those of you who are new to Life According to Jamie, my full time/day job is teaching. While I was off, I browsed through my phone and saw that I had quite a few short videos from this winter of the different little snowfalls we had. I took advantage of my extra free time and made a short video compilation of all the videos. An homage to winter 2016-2017 if you will. I’m hoping this winter weather is officially on its way out because as much as I kept saying I wanted a little more…

Photo Challenge: Against the Odds
Last week’s photo challenge was “Against the Odds” and I’m using a photo from last winter as my photo response. It is definitely not from this week considering it is going to be 70 degrees today! Yes, in February! I first shared this photo on here in my post last winter about being snowed in due to a blizzard. I thought this photo would be a good photo response for “Against the Odds” as a sort of symbolic picture. I think we all feel stuck in life at times – I know I’m guilty of it – and like we won’t be able to get over the latest hurdle or obstacle in life.…

Cozy Winter Day
I’ve had in my blog planner/calendar for weeks to do a post on cozy winter day activities/things I like to do, tentatively set for today. As fate would have it yesterday was the perfect day to document some cozy cold weather activities because it was cold and snowy. It didn’t snow much, but it was pretty to see the big flakes fall for a few hours. On a cold winter day I like to have some coffee while still in my pajamas. For some reason, cold weather makes me want grilled cheese. Is that weird? The grilled cheese I like to eat at home is simple. Just buttered white bread,…

Photo Challenge: Dance
Dancing is one of the most beautiful art forms. I love dancing whether it’s out with my friends having a fun time or when I took dance classes growing up from elementary school until I graduated high school. If you know me, you’ll also know I’m obsessed with watching dance shows on TV like Dancing with the Stars (p.s. a post about the new season coming later today!). But things other than people can have dance-like qualities too so when I thought about what kind of picture I wanted to take or use for this week’s photo challenge from The Daily Post, which was “Dance“, I tried to think of other…

Photo Challenge: Optimistic
How can a short work week feel so tiring? I had an unplanned 4-day weekend because of the blizzard last weekend and had to hit the ground running at work come Wednesday. It’s been a tiring and very busy few days. My photo response this Friday to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge was taken during the blizzard. The photo challenge this past week was “Optimistic” and while outside during the thick of the storm I took a picture of the weeping pine in front of my house. While the wind whipped snow all around and I began to be surrounded by three feet of snow, I thought the image of this…

Snowed In
Snowed in. Literally. My area was hit with a blizzard over the weekend and at the time that I’m writing this (11PM on Sunday night) my street has still not been plowed yet! So although my driveway is cleared, I am literally trapped. The snow began Friday night and steadily and at times heavily continued until late Saturday night. In 24 hours, we got over 30 inches (taking snow drifts into account). The wind was crazy at times hence the snow drifts. I’m not exaggerating when I say that whenever I opened my front door to take a look at the snow I would get hit in the face with…
