Pink Elephant Pendant

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and I’m sure many of you have seen posts about it on other blogs as well as posts on Instagram and other social media sites. Many of us know someone or know of someone who has been affected by breast cancer and I’m no exception. Without getting into too much detail it and the threat of it has played a role in my and my family’s lives for years.

I’m not sure how it started, but I’ve noticed that elephants have taken on this symbol for breast cancer awareness. A few years ago I got a tote bag from Vera Bradley and the proceeds were going towards Breast Cancer Research. The bag’s print was of little elephants. This year, I got this cute elephant pendant from Kohls by the LC Lauren Conrad line. It’s a rose gold color, has little floral details, and comes on a long chain. There are two sizes you can choose from. The website says, “100% of the net profit will be donated to support the fight against breast cancer through Kohl’s Cares.”

I think the necklace is adorable and just a fun piece of jewelry to have. It’s super affordable and the proceeds go to a good cause so it’s a win-win! If any of you know how elephants became associated with BCA, comment below because I’d love to know! I couldn’t find a straight answer when I did a google search.
