Last year saw the craze of highlighting and contouring, which frankly have been around for ages but for some reason people went absolutely crazy for it in 2015. On a day-to-day basis I do some light highlighting and contouring to add some dimension to my face but nothing too glowy or chiseled. Actually, it’s more of a bronzing up than a contouring.
There have been loads of highlight and contour palettes that have come out in the past year alone. Seriously, so many to choose from at all different price points! Since I only seriously highlight and contour it up for nights out or special occasions, I decided to go with a middle of the road (price-wise) palette instead of something a little more expensive such as the popular Anastasia Beverly Hills one. Enter the NYX Highlight & Contour Palette.
The palette comes with eight pans with the top row being the highlighting powders and the bottom row the bronzers. The highlighters range from a shimmery white to a cream color. It also includes a more yellow/banana powder which would be perfect for setting under-eye concealer. The bronzers also range from cool to warm tones. Having a range of shades is fantastic so you can use the shade for whatever look you’re going for. Want to look extra glowy? Go with the white highlight. Want a deeper contoured look? Use the darker bronzer. Want to just warm up your complexion? Use the soft brown. So many options!
I’ve only been using this palette for a short time, but so far so good. I love the versatility. I know the newer thing now is cream bronzers which I haven’t tried yet but I’m still dipping my toe into the cream blush world so that may take me a while to get to!
