Making Bold Moves

The great news is you’re sole business has grown and it’s high time to move on. No more cramped desk space, working from home but instead an office that works well for your business. It’s an exciting task ahead, are you prepared for your office moving day? Check out our guide:

Be Your Best Team Member

Organisation is the key and it’s this vital ingredient that’s going to guarantee you a successful office move. Stay focused and organised and create plenty of time to get the logistics just right. You are effectively your own move manager so you’ll need to make sure you’ve ticked all the boxes before you get the movers in to transfer your one-person business into your new office space.

Go ahead and check out your new office before the big day and decide where things are going to go, create a floor plan and label the floor with masking tape if it helps make things clearer.

Fresh Start

This is the perfect opportunity to lose all that extra paper and filing you’ve been storing away for no reason. Look into skip bin hire if you have lots of equipment that needs throwing away. You’ll need to have confidential paperwork destroyed securely but be ruthless with everything else and make your move that bit lighter.

On The Day

Make sure that utilities are all turned on prior to your arrival, that you have power, water and your internet system up and running. Arrange to have your IT support on site at a specified time to get you up and running and avoid excessive downtime.

Make sure that you’ve given your customers adequate notice about your move and have changed your address, phone details (where appropriate) on your social media, emails and website. Any headed paper should also be changed.

Use Your Move For Marketing

Your office move is the perfect excuse for a little marketing activity. Use it to kick start a special offer online or as an excuse to reach out to your customer base by direct email, backed up with some fresh content on your site.

It’s a day to be proud of. You’ve shown the world that you’re a force to be reckoned with, that you’ve got what it takes to take an idea and watch it grow and develop into a successful business.

Start from the beginning with the basics. Choose your office space wisely and make sure it really fits all your business needs and ticks all the right boxes. Leave plenty of time to make sure that you can plan when your move takes place and exactly where you’re going to need everything to be.

Make sure you’ve got everything you need ready to go as soon as you arrive at your new site to avoid spending too long offline and out of contact from your customers. When you’re all settled in, take a moment to reflect on how far you’ve come and allow yourself some time to dream about where your business is heading to next and what dreams you’re going to be able to make come true.
