Getting Prepared For Those All Important House Viewings

Have you made the decision to sell your home? Before that happens there are lots of tasks you need to complete. Selling a home can take a lot of preparation. There can also be a lot of stress and heartache involved with selling your home. The sale may fall through or the buyers can pull out at the last minute. To ensure your house gets sold and the sale goes through make sure it looks the best it possibly can.

Exterior

After you have sorted the realtor out it is now time to sort the house out. You need to make sure the exterior is as nice as the interior, this is known as curb appeal. Having curb appeal can boost interest in your house. Potential buyers will see that the garden is kept tidy so will assume the indoors is nice as well. However, if the grass looks overgrown and the weeds are out of control then this can turn buyers off completely.

If you fancy having a low-maintenance garden that doesn’t take much work you can install astroturf (fake grass). Better yet if you haven’t got time to do the garden and you have funds available why not hire a gardener to keep the gardens clean and tidy.

Declutter

An important aspect of selling your home is to make it look as empty and spacious as possible. You can do this by having a major decluttering session in each room of your home. You will need to pack up your stuff anyway when you move so why not get a head start and pack stuff as you declutter.

A good technique for managing to declutter is to go to each room and create a pile of stuff you want to keep, stuff you want to sell, and the stuff you want to throw out.

You should be doing this because when you have people coming to view your property they don’t want to see the space filled with your stuff. They need to see the space available in order to envision their own belongings being in the house.

Deep Clean

After you have decluttered you should carry out a thorough deep clean of the property. This not only makes the house sparkle and smell nice it proves to the buyers that you have looked after the property well.

You need to ensure that you are cleaning every part of the house including carpets. It is important to undertake carpet cleaning because dirt and debris can build up over the years. If you don’t want to do this yourself you can call in the experts to do it for you. Once all the clearing and cleaning has been done inside and outside you can open your house for viewings. The realtor will tell you the best way to do this and the quickest way to get that sale.

Moving can be a very stressful time. We hope this helps you understand what you need to do in order to get your house ready to sell.
