Book Review: Magnolia Parks – The Long Way Home

I read the third book in the Magnolia Parks series – The Long Way Home by Jessa Hastings earlier this week and I quickly remembered why I love Magnolia, BJ, and all the other characters.

This novel takes place after Daisy Haites and a year after the ending of Magnolia Parks. At the end of Magnolia Parks, Magnolia left London abruptly after a huge blow up with BJ and moved to New York. Now she is back in London for her dad’s wedding and the holidays. In the time she’s been gone, she’s dated a string of high profile guys and BJ now has a girlfriend though he sort of fell into that relationship by accident and just stuck with it.

The novel follows Magnolia and BJ as they continue to navigate their way back to each other. It’s a huge rollercoaster of emotions and every time they take a huge step forward they take 10 steps back. It is frustrating, but so good that you can’t stop reading. That’s the thing with this story, the books are seriously chunky, but the story hooks you so good that you can’t stop reading and before you know it you’ve read 500+ pages in 2 days. So we follow Magnolia and BJ as they figure out their lives. They love each other, but have hurt each other a lot too. Can Magnolia forgive BJ for his betrayal? Can BJ trust Magnolia won’t run away and leave him again?

The main guy Magnolia is with in this book is Julian Haites. I liked him in Daisy Haites and continued to love him in this book. I know there is a whole faction of fans that believe Magnolia should be with Julian, but I think that even though I love Julian and that he’s a great character and that he truly loves Magnolia, that doesn’t mean they should be together in the end. I wholeheartedly believe Magnolia and BJ are true loves. I do hope that Julian gets a happy ending though same as I hoped Tom England would get a happy ending after book 1.

I just love Magnolia and BJ so much. I know when I read Daisy Haites I was saying I may like her more than Magnolia, but now I’m back in my Magnolia era – probably until I read the next Daisy book and then I’ll say Daisy is my favorite again haha. Yes, Magnolia is ridiculous, but she’s also so funny without even trying to be. And BJ loves how ridiculous she is (Julian too if I’m being honest.) Anyway, I just love these characters and the “whole box set”!

Also, no spoilers but the ending of this book was devastating (doesn’t have to do with Magnolia and BJ)! I had seen a spoiler about it so I was able to prepare myself and I was still so upset.

There are 2 published books left for me to read, but I’m trying to pace myself since Jessa Hastings hasn’t written the next book yet! I’m hoping she announces something about it soon so I know I have something to look forward to after I finish the next 2 books.
