Book Review: Bridesmaid Undercover

I always laugh out loud when reading books by Meghan Quinn so I knew I’d be in a good mood reading Bridesmaid Undercover.

The novel follows Hardy Hopper and Everly Plum. We met both characters in Bridesmaid for Hire when Maggie and Brody pretend to be a couple at the wedding of Hardy’s sister, Haisley. Maggie is an event planner and Everly’s boss. Everly has had a crush on Hardy ever since she met him. He’s down to earth, cute, and funny, which is a bit surprising considering he’s a billionaire.

Maggie and Everly get hired to help out with Hardy’s college friends’ wedding. Since Everly is heading up the Bridesmaid for Hire branch of the company, she will be handling the work seeing as how Hardy’s friend Polly needs someone to help her maid of honor with the planning of wedding festivities. Polly’s maid of honor is Hardy’s ex-girlfriend and possibly the one who got away. When Hardy asks to meet up with Everly for coffee to talk about the job and then proceeds to tell her how he thinks he’s ready to settle down in a relationship after seeing all these happy couples around him, she thinks he’s going to ask her out. Not so fast! He wants Everly to help him win his ex, Maple, back!

The two spend a lot of time together planning the bridal shower and joint bachelor/bachelorette party and scheming to help Hardy win Maple back. All of this time together only makes Everly’s feelings grow, but she knows Hardy is only interested in Maple. But does Hardy still love Maple or is it the idea and comfort of being with someone you already know and had feelings for 10 years ago?

I really liked this book and loved Hardy and Everly. The storyline was really good and the slow burn wasn’t torturous since the chemistry between Hardy and Everly was so good, effortless, and funny. Once the slow burn got going, the spice was spicin’. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 was because it started to drag on for a little too long in my opinion towards the end. The conflict lasted a bit too long for me so it just felt like the end took a while to get to. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this book!

Read this if you want a spicy romcom with the billionaire, friends to lovers, and slow burn tropes.
