Book Review: A Hush at Midnight

A Hush at Midnight by Marlene M. Bell came out earlier this fall and is a great cozy mystery to read this time of year.

The novel follows celebrity chef, Laura Harris, when her mentor and family friend, Hattie Stenburg, dies. Laura hadn’t seen Hattie in years and she decides to go visit her. Feeling uneasy that Laura had left her with a neighbor/caretaker that she didn’t quite trust so she drives back to the house to check on her friend only to find a mysterious scene and her dear friend dead. The death is suspicious and Laura is determined to find out who killed her friend. Laura may find multiple characters suspicious, but some people suspect her as well.

I enjoyed this book and trying to figure out what happened to Hattie. It was interesting and easy to follow. But so many characters were unreliable characters, which I’m not the biggest fan of. Overall, I liked the book and the mystery of it all.
