Rearranging Your Garden: How To Get More Function Out Of The Backyard Space

Do you want a garden you can really use? Do you want it to be a captivating space that makes everyone who visits fall in love with it? Or maybe you just want to clear things up and get to work out there, using it in the way nature intended! No matter how you want your garden to really be, the best thing to do now is rearrange it and see what you’re left with.

Indeed, you need to know how much space you’re working with and how easy it’ll be to use it in the way you dream of. To do that, you’ll need to do some research into crafting this kind of backyard area. Here are some pointers to get you started.

Is Landscaping Getting in the Way?

Landscaping is a lovely thing to invest in, but when you have a bit too much landscaping, the decision to try and rearrange and reuse the garden is going to be a difficult one. After all, there’s a lot in the way, and you’re going to have to unpick all the work that was done there before!

But don’t let this put you off. If landscaping is getting in the way, try to remove it. It could be using up a good portion of space you need elsewhere.

Where Could a Patio Go?

If you really want to measure out how much space you’ve got in the garden, make sure you’re looking for a suitable area to fit a patio. Whether you really want one or not, checking for level land that’s big enough in terms of square feet for both people, furniture, and appliances, will let you know what usable space you’ve got already.

And from there you could just fit a patio, thanks to just how functional they are as garden set pieces. Hire yourself a patio decks builder to get the job done for you and you could have a unique, well fitting, and aesthetically pleasing patio ready to go in under a week.

How Sheltered is the Space?

The amount of cover you’re working with will very much factor into how you can use your garden. If it’s all sun and no tree tops, you’re going to have to be very careful about how you spend time out there.

You can pop sofas down and enjoy the midday heat, but without gallons of sunscreen and having to keep covered, there’s a strong chance you’re going to get a sunburnt whenever you’re outside!

This would mean you need to factor in fitting an awning or gazebo, or even a pagoda, into the space as well. Unless you’re happy to wait until the trees you’ve planted have grown up and out, these items are best for providing immediate coverage while still giving you the sun exposure you’re after. So, do you have room for any? Get measuring and make sure.

If your backyard isn’t functional right now, these are the steps to start with.
