Book Review: Where the Library Hides
What the River Knows by Isabel Ibanez was one of my favorite reads in 2024 so I was so excited to read the follow up in the Secrets of the Nile duology, Where the Library Hides, and the novel lived up to the hype for me.

The novel picks up where the first book left off. Inez is desperate to find her mother after she tricked her and stole artifacts they found when they discovered Cleopatra’s tomb. Inez and Whit, her Tio Ricardo’s aide-de-camp, have been working together, but now Whit thinks they should be closer than ever and get married. It will save him from having to marry his betrothed (an arrangement by his parents) and give Inez the freedom to stay in Cairo since her uncle is adamant that she go home to Buenos Aires. What follows is more adventure, mystery, magic, twists, turns, romance, and heartache as Inez and Whit look for her mother, try to find out what happened to Inez’s father, and work to clear Ricardo and Abdullah’s names.
I loved this book and being reunited with Inez and Whit. I love their love for each other even when things weren’t looking so great for them. There were some twists in the storyline that I didn’t expect, but really tied the story up. I will miss Inez and Whit!
The ending and epilogue leaves little breadcrumbs and open-ended wording about Arabella’s future (Whit’s little sister) so I hope there will be a future book about Arabella’s adventures!
I really love this duology. You should read this if you want a adventure/fantasy/historical romance set in the 19th century and explores ancient Egypt with archaeological digs and a bit of magic.
