Book Review: The Throne of Broken Gods

Last week I read The Throne of Broken Gods, the second book in the Gods & Monsters series by Amber V. Nicole. I loved being back with all the characters, especially Samkiel – my new favorite fantasy romance book boyfriend.

The novel picks up shortly after the traumatic and dramatic ending of The Book of Azrael. Dianna has left Samkiel after Kaden’s actions at the end of the first book and is now on a war path to get revenge and find and kill Kaden. Samkiel is trying to pick up the pieces and fix the destruction she is leaving behind on her quest for revenge. And he would really like to find her and try to help her heal and get her back.

Meanwhile, darker forces are at work to try to not only keep Dianna and Samkiel apart, but to overthrow him as God King and reopen all the realms. Now it’s up to Samkiel and his best friends that make him The Hand to try to help Dianna come back to herself and realize she has a family in them.

I loved this book and loved getting to know all the members of The Hands more in this book. I still love Dianna, but her self-sabotaging, war path lasting for half the book was starting to get to me! I loved the found family vibes in this book, especially in the 2nd half of the book. Samkiel stays being the best and I love him!

The last 15% or so of the book was so devastating to me and I hope the third book doesn’t torture me too much before setting things right. I think I’m going to wait a while before I read the next book though since the fourth book doesn’t come out until October so I might wait until closer to then.

Have you read this book? Were you also shocked and devastated by those last few chapters?
