Book Review: It’s In His Kiss

I finished the 7th Bridgerton book a few days ago (just 1 left to go!). It’s In His Kiss by Julia Quinn is Hyacinth Bridgerton and Gareth St. Clair’s story.

Hyacinth is the youngest Bridgerton and the last one at home since all of her older siblings are married and her brother, Gregory is away at school. She has been out for a few years now and while she has been proposed to a few times there hasn’t been anyone she wanted to marry. Gareth St. Clair is the son of a baron and he and his father hate each other. His maternal grandmother is also the beloved Lady Danbury. Hyacinth and Lady Danbury have become very close in recent years and Hyacinth goes to visit Lady Danbury weekly to chat and read to her. Gareth doesn’t usually go out to the parties and social functions because he wants to avoid his father as much possible. He also doesn’t care to attend because he has no current plans to marry. When the widow of his late brother comes to visit him and gives him his paternal grandmother’s diary she found amongst her husband’s things, he is instantly intrigued but he can’t read any of it because his grandmother wrote it in her native Italian. Not many people in regency London know Italian, but someone who does is Hyacinth! She is not fluent, but she knows enough to be able to slowly translate most of the diary for him. The more time Hyacinth and Gareth spend together the more they like each other. But does Gareth see himself settling down and getting married? And will the diary reveal family secrets that could get in the way of the two being together?

I loved this book. I really liked Hyacinth, Gareth, and the storyline. Their chemistry and banter was so good. I especially loved his spunky Hyacinth is. We don’t see much of her in the previous books or in the tv show since she’s the youngest so this was a really fun book to get to know her and her personality better.
