Book Review: Prince of Swords

When I read Arcana Academy by Elisr Kova back in the winter, I loved it so much. So I was very excited to read the follow up, Prince of Swords.

The novel picks up where Arcana Academy left off. Clara has been captured by the evil crown prince, Ravin, and learns her sister Arina is still alive and being kept in the prison as well. Before too long, Clara is rescued by her love and brother to Ravin – Kaelis – and her friends.

The novel follows Clara as she disguises herself in order to continue staying at Arcana Academy to try to save the world and her loved ones. She also begins working with the Worldkeepers, an ancient, secret organization that her late mother used to be a leader of. Will Clara be able to save the world from Ravin and the King’s plans? Will she be able to save her sister? Will Clara and Kaelis’ love survive?

I really liked being back in this world and I enjoyed the story. That being said, I felt this book moved a lot slower than the first book so it took me longer to read it. Spoiler Alert – I appreciated that Clara and Kaelis stuck by each other throughout the book and everything that they went through/everything that was thrown at them. But the ending was such a cliffhanger and left me in emotional turmoil! I can’t wait until the final book comes out next year to see how it will all end and how Clara will fix everything that got messed up at the end of Prince of Swords.
