    I Love Dress Down Days

I love dress down days at work. It’s true. Not only can I wear more casual clothes, but dress down days also mean it’s Friday! If you have been following my blog since last year, you may remember that on Fridays I’m allowed to dress down as long as I wear my school shirt. However, we’re given new staff shirts every year and it usually takes a month or more for them to come in so until then I have much more choice! Sure, I could wear previous years’ shirts but why would I do that when I can wear whatever shirt (work appropriate of course) that I want? My number…

    Flowy Layered Tank

Although I’ve been back to work for a week now, the students don’t come in for their first day of school until Tuesday. That means I was able to dress down which is always nice especially when you’re going to be sitting around in meetings and professional development workshops for 8 hours a day. On one of the days I wore jeans and a floral, flowy layered tank. Top: LOFT Jeans: Express Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs I love the salmon-y pink layer that peeks through on the bottom and how it plays off the flower print on the outer layer. The loose, billowy structure of the top was also…

    Updated Dress Down Friday Post

If you’re new or newer to my blog, you may not know that I’m a high school teacher and at my school on Fridays we can dress down if we wear our staff shirt. For the first few months of school, the shirts haven’t been ordered yet meaning I can have a true casual Friday. But by December, the shirts are usually in and I’m left to wear a shirt that is not flattering, a shiny kind of polyester, and despite always ordering a size small, is still huge on me. Anyway, back in December, I wrote a post about trying to make the look my own and pairing the shirt with…

    Metallic Print

I recently wrote about how I’m loving the embellished sweatshirt trend so on my recent dress down day at work I again wore a sweatshirt. A sweatshirt with a pretty print or embellishments really dresses up the whole look and takes it from loungewear comfort to chic comfort. Metallics are also something I like and the combo of this navy blue with the rose gold, metallic print on this sweatshirt is perfect. Top: Gap Jeans: Express   I paired it with a bright tank underneath which I thought was a nice pop of color instead of the standard white or black. The print kind of reminds me of a cross between…

    Embellished Sweatshirt

Embellished sweaters or sweatshirts are very on trend this season and I love it! I am a huge fan of mixing style with comfort and embellished sweat shirts are the epitome of this. I’ve seen so many that I’ve loved either in stores, while online window shopping, or on blog posts. I’ve even bought a few myself. Yesterday (or today as I’m typing this a few hours in advance) was an early dismissal day at work before Thanksgiving break. Since it’s technically our last day of work for the week I was able to dress down. I also donated money to a fundraiser the seniors were running for Mustache Movember…

    Bright Colors in the Fall

Today is supposed to be unusually warm for late fall, but just a few days ago it felt like winter weather. I wrote last week about incorporating some pops of color on a drab day and while last Friday was not a rainy day, I still decided to wear some bright colors for my dress down at work. Cardigan: Express Top: Old Navy Pants: Uniqlo Boots: Betsey Johnson Litzlo Combat Booties via DSW Watch: Michael Kors   I decided to wear neutral earrings to add a little extra sparkle to my look. but keep it simple and not add any more colors. These studs are from a pack of multi-color studs I got at…

    Polka Dot Layered Top OOTD

It’s a brand new week and I have a new OOTD for you all. However, it’s technically an outfit from last Friday. Maybe it’s wishful thinking on my part that it was still the weekend! So today I’m showing you a layered look. It is one piece, but looks like separates and I love the effect. Top: Loft Jeans: Loft Shoes: Keds Crash Back Slip-on Sneaker via DSW Watch: Fossil I don’t remember exactly where I got this necklace from, but I feel like it was from JCrew Factory. I loved pairing this necklace with the top, because the top has this casual, classy vibe with it’s grey and white combo. It looks classy…
