Merry Christmas Eve! Ugly Christmas sweaters have been around for a long time, but I think it’s only been in recent years that people actually made a big deal out of them with the goal of wearing an ugly sweater. Just think, there was a time when people wore these sweaters because they liked them! But honestly, a lot of the sweaters I find aren’t all that ugly and are kinda cute.
This year, instead of going out looking for one – because I never seem to have luck finding a good one, I decided to make my own! Luckily, I have a friend who also wanted to make one this year so we were able to shop and diy together.
We went to Walmart because they have the plain, solid colored sweatshirts for $5-6. The women’s section had no white or black ones (ugh) and the men’s section only had them in sizes too large. Apparently, I can fit into XL in the Boy’s section – woohoo!
Then, we went to Hobby Lobby and stocked up on decorations and things to plaster all over our sweatshirts. Next, we planned out how we wanted to place things on our sweatshirts and the hot gluing began! It was actually really easy and a lot quicker than I thought it’d be.
I love how mine and my friend’s turned out. I especially love the bells she glued on to the shoulders! I wish I had thought of buying 2 of the bell bracelets but I only bought 1 so I planned to wear it as a bracelet and then I forgot to wear it yesterday to work for our Ugly Christmas Sweater day!
Have you ever tried to make your own sweater? I’d love to hear about it!
Enjoy the rest of your day!
