Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes

By now I’m sure a lot of you have heard of Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes by the cosmetic brand Younique. I first heard of this fiber lash duo last summer and have seen bloggers and YouTubers alike share their thoughts on the product. This past Christmas, I was lucky enough to get this 3D fiber lash system as a gift and have used it a few times since then.

Today, I’m going to finally share with you my thoughts on the product! And side note: how come no one ever blogs about how hard it is to take pictures of your eyes? Like, seriously, it is really difficult!! I couldn’t get any non-weird, clear, pictures of my eyes/lashes so after about a dozen tries, all I ended up with is 1 picture and it’s an “after” picture so sorry to say I don’t have a “before” shot to share!

The premise of this lash system is similar to ones you may have seen by other brands like Too Faced where you first coat your lashes with one of the products which is similar to a mascara and then coat your lashes with the fibers followed up with the mascara-like product again. Younique’s version has you coat your lashes with a Transplant Gel first and then coat your lashes with the fibers and finishing it off with the transplant gel again. You need to put the fibers on before the transplant gel dries so you need to work fairly quickly. The two products come housed in a little case that reminds me of an eyeglass case.

The transplant gel reminds me of a mascara but a more liquidy and thicker consistency if that makes sense. I know it sounds weird to say it’s more liquid yet also thicker, but it is and it’s hard to explain! The fibers basically look like little fuzzies and when you put them on your lashes it really looks like you’re coating your lashes with fuzz! The instructions say you can apply a coat of mascara prior to the Moodstruck system if you would like. I have done that before but I didn’t really see a difference. The past two times I’ve used the system I haven’t opted to apply mascara beforehand because my lashes have the unfortunate tendency to curl easily with the eyelash curler and before long go stick straight again. Since my lashes are so straight, I figure the last thing my lashes need are to be weighed down with additional products.

Like I mentioned above, this is the best shot I have of my lashes and it took forever to get this! Any tips on eye pictures would be greatly appreciated!

So what do I think of this fiber lash system? I definitely like it and I think it gives great volume. It’s definitely nice especially for special occasions. I used it last month when I chaperoned prom and went to a wedding. Is it as glam as false lashes? In my opinion, no. However, I have not mastered putting false lashes on myself. I have worn false lashes before for weddings, but only when a professional makeup artist was doing my makeup. This system is much easier (for me) than applying false lashes and while not as fancy, it is a stellar alternative. It lengthens and volumizes your lashes, but don’t expect it to curl or aide in holding a curl.

I think it’s definitely something worth checking out, especially if you want to give your lashes the occasional extra oomph but don’t want to have to bother with falsies.
