Pajama or slumber parties with girlfriends are something I don’t think I’ve done in years. Most of the time these days if I’m sleeping at the same place as my friends it’s because we’re all away together or something, so it’s not exactly a slumber party. Plus these days I feel like if we’re all out and I’m reasonably close to home, I’d really rather just sleep in my own bed!
So why am I bringing up slumber parties? My birthday was last week and I was thinking back to when birthday parties were all about sleepovers. In elementary school it would be fun and a little scary at the same time. Usually at least one person got homesick and had to go home. The nights consisted of dessert and games. As we got older sleepovers occurred more often and not just on birthdays but on random weekends or weeknights if it was summer. Movies were watched, games were played, but mostly we just stayed up all night talking and laughing. The next morning when it was time to go home there was the painful and annoying business of rolling up your sleeping bag. How does anyone ever get them rolled up so compactly?!
Slumber parties were usually pretty simple and probably pretty unglamorous with bodies, pillows, and sleeping bags sprawled all over the floor. But how cute does the slumber party set I put together on top look? First up, a cute pajama set. You might just be with your girlfriends but you can still wear cute pajamas. Next, some fun drinks and snacks. Of course, a TV and some dvds or Netflix is a must even if the movie is just playing in the background while you chat away with your friends. Lastly, how adorable is that sleep set up?! I would’ve loved sleepovers even more back in the day if each person had their own mattress on the floor with a tent-like canopy over each with twinkle lights. Twinkle lights! #PajamaPartyGoals
