Oscars 2016: Fashion Picks

Happy Leap Day! Before I get into my fashion oriented post for today, I have something to say about leap day. Just hear me out. We only get February 29th every four years, so since we don’t normally have this day shouldn’t we all get the day off work? And I mean think about those people born on leap years! They only get to celebrate their real birthday every four years so we should definitely get off of work to all celebrate, right? Well, I think so at least! Of course, when this post goes live I’ll already be at work….

Anyway, last night was Hollywood’s most glamorous night – the 88th Academy Awards. Of course, I had to share my favorite red carpet looks with you all today. There were so many amazing looks that I had trouble narrowing it down. Ultimately, I cut it down to 12 – yes you heard that right, 12, looks that I’ve deemed my favorites.

First up, Priyanka Chopra stuns in this semi sheer Zuhair Murad gown. At first, I wasn’t sure how I felt about this gown because it looked a bit bridal to me. But, the more I looked at it, the more I fell in love with the floral details and metallic belt, which might be my favorite part actually! The gown also fits her perfectly.

Cate Blanchett looks like a piece of art in this sea foam green Armani gown with hand-sewn flower details. I’m not always a fan of 3D details, but I absolutely love everything about this gown! Only Cate Blanchett could pull this off!

Possibly my favorite look of the night, Jennifer Lawrence, looks absolutely amazing in this Dior gown. I love the combination of nude colored material and lace so this gown already had that going for it but then add on the tiered layers of lace and it.is.gorgoeus.

Another Dior number with this red hot gown Charlize Theron wore. The statuesque actress looked beautiful in this bright red gown with a plunging neckline and double straps. Her long necklace that hits at just the right length for her plunging neckline is the icing on the cake.

Saoirse Ronan sparkles in this sequined emerald green Calvin Klein gown. I love the cut and color. I also love that as the gown goes closer to her feet the material becomes more sheer and you can really see the intricate sequin work.

More sequins love in this Armani Privé gown worn by Naomi Watts. The blue/pink/purple color combination on this gown is so fun yet glamorous.

Brie Larson is probably my safest choice of gown on my list with this Gucci gown. I love the bodice. The chunky belt is so bold and contrasts to the romantic, ultra feminine vertical ruffles on the skirt of the gown. The gown is simple, yet beautiful and the little things like the belt and the pleats elevate the look to another level.

Rooney Mara is white hot in this Givenchy gown with a diamond shaped cutout at the center. The intricate lacework is beautiful. I’m not usually a fan of front slits, but I really like it in this gown.

Margot Robbie dazzles away in this metallic gold gown. I love the wrap effect and the long sleeves.

Chrissy Teigen does it again with her killer maternity style. She looks phenomenal in this nude colored Marchesa gown with burgundy flowers throughout. The mermaid bottom might be my favorite part of this gown where the burgundy flower details become more sparse and you can really see how they stand out on the nude material.

Another emerald gown on my list comes from Rachel McAdam’s August Getty Atelier number. The thigh-high slit on the side, high neck halter, and slinky material looks so chic and sophisticated.

The last look I loved from the night is a special shoutout to the lovely Charlotte Riley in this ballgown. She looks amazing in this ball gown skirt with lace top and plunging neckline. She and Tom Hardy just had a baby this past fall! Her look would be on point baby or no baby, but since I know that she did have a baby I think she seriously slayed this look!

That wraps up my favorite looks from last night’s red carpet at the Oscars! There was definitely a trend of me loving the nude materials and plunging necklines, but I just couldn’t help it – those looks just took my fashion breath away!

Oh, I absolutely loved Jennifer Lawrence’s attire for this Oscars. Between did you catch her in the 26th Annual PGA Awards? Sporting a Prada gown with some right amount of sequin embellishments, she carried it off totally. <3
Love your list and I do agree only Cate could have pulled off something as bold as that so well! But I would add probably Alicia Vikander to the list as well <3 Her yellow, strapless Louis Vuitton dress with silver, glittering details was sure a treat to the eyes !
