Winter Layers: Slip Dress

Winter Layers: Slip Dress

It seems like there are trends from every decade that are back in style lately. Suede and shearling lined pieces reminiscent of the 70s. 80s fashion like mirrored sunglasses and customized denim jackets have made a comeback too. So when Polyvore ran a style challenge for incorporating a slip dress into winter layers, I immediately thought of the 90s. I always think of the 90s when I hear “slip dress”.

I found this gorgeous emerald green lace slip dress on the site and decided to build the winter look around it. The color and lace detailing were too beautiful to pass up! Since we’re talking about winter I had to pick a coat that would keep you warm if all you’re wearing is a slip dress. I picked this wrap coat with faux fur collar. It looks warm yet fashionable so it goes pretty perfectly with the dress. The last two items were the handbag and shoes. For the handbag, I chose a rose gold metallic clutch featuring all-over beading. It also comes with a chain shoulder strap for when you’re walking in that cold weather and don’t want to have your hands out of your coat pockets! Lastly, the rose gold sequined pumps add some more glitz to the look and go well with the clutch. I chose rose gold accessories to stand out against the light sand colored coat.

What do you think of the look? I love all the pieces and wish I owned that dress! Though I may need to shed a few of the winter/hibernation pounds plus wear spanx before feeling anywhere near comfortable in a slip dress!
