DWTS Season 22: Nyle DiMarco

Earlier today I posted my photo response to “Dance“, so it’s very fitting that I’m posting about the new season of Dancing with the Stars. The new season of the show kicked off this past Monday night and when I first saw the cast list there wasn’t anyone on there that I was dying to see. Jodie Sweetin from Full House and Fuller House is on the cast and I really wanted to see how she would do, but other than that there wasn’t anyone that I was already a big fan of. Well, all that has changed because I got introduced (not for real introduced, but how cool would that be?) to model Nyle DiMarco and guys, he is phenomenal.

If you don’t know who he is, don’t worry, I didn’t either. He won America’s Next Top Model and is a model with Wilhelmina. He has some acting credits to his name too, but what makes him so outstanding is that he is deaf. When I heard that dance pro Peta Murgatroyd was paired up with a deaf model I was immediately intrigued! How was this going to work since he can’t hear the music?

I know the show has had one other deaf contestant, actress Marlee Matlin, but the situations were a bit different because as stated on the show she was able to pick up little bits of the music with the help of hearing aids whereas Nyle hears absolutely nothing.

So before the performance on the show I had no idea what to expect. Was it going to be incredibly awkward? Would it just be off-beat? I’m ecstatic to tell you that he was absolutely amazing!! Seriously, he performed such a solid and fun cha cha for a debut dance on the show and it was awe-inspiring. Honestly, I’ve seen plenty of stars on the show that can hear whose dancing and rhythm wouldn’t come close to Nyle’s. I truly cannot describe how awesome his performance was especially when you take into consideration that he cannot hear the music. You just need to watch for yourself!
