Self-care
We hear about self-care all the time, but not many of us know precisely what that means. Self-care is basically exactly as it sounds, you’re looking after yourself, which in turn helps improve your mood and mental health. In 2019 we are well versed on how mental health affects us all, and why we should look after this as a priority. Many times we only think about self-care when we really need it. But it’s always better to keep on top of this rather than keeping it as an emergency measure. Self-care can be quite as simple as sitting down for a cup of tea during a busy day. Or even taking a walk with your dog. The beauty of “self-care” is that it’s individual to you if you are careful and have your own self-care “tool kit” Then it should be easy for you to keep up with day-to-day life, and your self-care.
Gratitude
Gratitude is one of the greatest tools you can use in life, it’s not just about realising things could be much worse, it’s also being grateful for the small wins every day, that includes sometimes just getting up getting dressed and managing to get yourself to work, prolong the way being thankful for the fact you have hot running water to have a shower, facilities to make a lovely cup of tea, and a family around you that loves and cares for each other. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the things that we want, all the things we don’t have. And it’s also easy to think about the problems that we face and focus on them. But if you think about the positives and focus on them, you will feel a lot better about most situations.
Quality time
We’re also busy working, rushing around, exercising, and completing our daily chores, that we forget to just sit with the people we love and spend some good quality time. This is a massive boost to your mood and every time you think about the negatives in life, it’s advisable to sit down with a loved one and talk things through. Everything will seem much better when you’ve had a chat over a cup of tea.
Ultimately we are all responsible for our own happiness, And finding what really works for you can actually be an enjoyable process. Slowing things down a little and try not to be overwhelmed by small things, is your best chance at success.
