Leap Year

Happy Leap Day! When I thought about Leap Day and Leap Year, it made me think of the Amy Adams and Matthew Goode movie Leap Year. I recently saw it on a list of bad movies and I remember thinking “hey I like that movie!” So I rewatched it the other night.

And it’s actually not that great! It’s not terrible, but definitely not the best rom-com out there. Amy Adams is kind of annoying in the movie, but it got me thinking about other things I love Matthew Goode in.

Chasing Liberty

Similar to Leap Year in that Matthew Goode is trying to help the female protagonist get to her destination and there are travel mishaps along the way. Except in Leap Year, Amy Adams’ character is trying to get to Dublin to propose to her boyfriend because on Leap Day women can propose to men in an old Irish tradition. In Chasing Liberty, Mandy Moore is the daughter of the President and while in Europe with her family, she runs off to try to go to a festival. She meets Matthew Goode along the way and he promises he’ll help her get to the festival. Unbeknownst to her, he’s actually secretly a Secret Service agent and is keeping tabs on her for her father!

Downton Abbey

In the later seasons, Matthew Goode was also in Downton Abbey. I love Downton and Matthew Goode’s character ends up being a love interest of Mary’s. Loved him on the show!

A Discovery of Witches

I wrote about this show in my April Favorites last year and I can’t wait for season 2 to air! Matthew Goode plays a vampire that’s over 1,000 years old in this show based on the All Souls book trilogy. He is drawn to witch, Diana Bishop, even though it is forbidden for the two different kinds to get together. A mix of the supernatural and history make this such a good show.
