I love trying new mascaras. I’m open to trying any kind of mascara, but I only have a few favorites. So did the new Urban Decay Lash Freak Mascara make the cut for my list of favorites?
Here’s how Urban Decay describes the mascara:
“An intensely volumizing mascara with an asymmetrical brush that lengthens and lifts lashes for a dramatic, wide-eyed look.
This ultra-pigmented mascara creates 23.6 times more volume and 40 percent more visible length. The brush was designed to give extreme volume and definition to lashes. The tip defines and separates, while the curved side adds lift. The mascara’s long-wear formula lasts up to 20 hours and is both smudge- and sweat-proof.”
I’ve been using the mascara for only about a week. It’s a very wet formula and I don’t generally like very wet mascaras, because I find them hard to use. Some wet mascaras, dry out a little after a bit and end up being great, so I’m waiting to see if that happens with this one. Lash Freak definitely lengthens my lashes, but since it’s so wet, it’s hard to apply multiple coats without clumping up.
The mascara claims to give extreme volume, which I haven’t seen and volume is what I look for most with mascaras. Volume and the ability to hold a curl. It might be that I’m not using the wand correctly as there is actually a multi-step process to use this unique wand. Funnily enough, I first heard of this mascara a few months ago when I saw a friend post a promo photo of the wand on Instagram and said it looked kind of like a bug with it’s curved, smooth side. It’s definitely a unique wand!
Final verdict? I like it, but don’t love it. At least not yet. I’ll let you know if that changes. It’s a little too wet for me. Lengthens, but easily clumps and doesn’t add volume to my lashes.
